An all too brief, first time visit to Purslane on a Tuesday lunchtime was, nonetheless, a memorable one.
The set lunch was of exceptional quality and value (two courses for £14, three for £17). There was just one choice of starter but this was perfect on a sizzling June day - a refreshing mint granita with a rich Jersey curd and fresh peas. The main of plaice, served on the bone, with a wonderful, buttery sauce and Jersey potatoes was delicious and perfectly cooked. Along with an excellent flat white, I did taste the dessert of cherry panna cotta with peanut brittle which, like everything else, was beautifully presented.
Service was first class.
With a long drive to follow, our only regret was not being able to stay longer and accompany our lunch with some wine. However we shall definitely return in the near future.
