Very excited about the prospect of getting married here until shocking customer experience. After arranging a meeting with the manager to discuss a wedding, we turned up at appointed time for her not to be there and the staff non the wiser to who we were. No call prior and no apology afterwards. Gave her the benefit of the doubt, as still really liked the venue so arranged a 2nd viewing with the manager. Lasted 15min in terms of a viewing and her "selling the venue" to me. My partner still loved it, so we asked if could look at quote and have some answers to some questions, stated need this promptly as we had other venues on hold. Had to chase for a response, again and we were promised to have some details sent through the same day. That was over two weeks ago and even now no response. Had to send an email to convey our huge disappointment, to eventually get an acceptable acknowledgement and apology and inviting us to give them a second chance. So we gave the olive branch back to meet up again and guess what...no response!! They have no experience of weddings, the last one apparently being in 2014. All I can say is don't waste your time viewing, there is no concept of customer service or selling the idea of a wedding experience, which is such a shame, as the venue could really be something for a wedding, but with a manager who seems inept at events management I would stay well clear rather than risk a wedding disaster!

I was recently treated to a suprise birthday supper at this restaurant. Admittedly it was a Wednesday evening but the place was dead, just two other couples in the large and cold restaurant who left well before us. The food and service was excellent, the decor suprising and somewhat 'The Only Way is Essex' but in a good way! We enjoyed exploring the rest of the hotel, attention to detail is nice and the one and only waiter/bartender was friendly and attentive. Overall a lovely evening, just a shame more people are not enjoying this unusual place in the heart of Painswick.

I used to love this place - the set menu offered fantastic innovative food at reasonable prices.
Last week we arrived to find the restaurant empty and the choice of an over priced lunch menu, or bar snacks.
The food was SO disappointing compared to before and of a quality that was 'adequate' but at those prices should have been so much more.
Service was average but nothing special.
Overall a HUGELY disappointing expeperience. I sent an email to share my disappointment but noone has bothered to reply to this.

good food in lovely surroundings. service bit slow due to staff illness but was very good food. Very modern décor for an old building would have been nice if fires were lit in winter. Also some of the décor looked a bit tired. But overall a funky atmosphere, good food in lovely old building.
