We chose room 11 on the top floor and had a wonderful view of the town square. They warned us that the stairs are steep and they weren't wrong. The final climb is almost vertical. So glad we only had carry-on luggage because our large suitcase would've been quite a challenge. The room was very comfortable and large. The floors are extremely uneven which makes you feel as if you're drunk when walking across the room. We had two double windows for plenty of light. The beams on the ceiling and stone wall gave it lots of character. Quite often the bathrooms in a place this old can be dreadful but that's certainly not the case here. The bathroom was modern with a large shower. There was plenty of shelving to store toiletries and such. The breakfast was delicious and quick so we could get on with our day. The only negative was the very slow shower drain which caused the water to pool at our feet but you can simply turn off the water for a minute or two to allow it to catch up. We loved the central location with many shops and restaurants within one or two blocks' walk.

Room Tip: Room 11 is very spacious and has a great view overlooking the town square.

On a recent break to the Cotswolds we chose to eat here after a long day of sightseeing. We entered the bar which was very busy and were greeted by two very friendly barmaids. We looked at the menu and went upstairs to the restaurant where we were ignored by a young waiter who was setting a table. At 6.00pm and with only 2 diners in we were told to come back much later. On our way out a barmaid asked us to wait while she got us a table. We were then sent straight back upstairs to be ignored again. This guy cleary didnt want us here. We were seated and told that we would have to make our selection very quickly as a party of 16 were due in later. We should have left but we're tired and hungry. The food was good and portions very generous but after our main course we were ignored again. We gave up on coffee and desserts. I understand a party of 16 is quite a task in a restaurant but the young girl from the bar did most of the work. We really felt in the way. I would award the food 3 stars but service none.

We selected Kings Arms in part because of Rick Steves review, and also their website. No regrets. We did pick an upper floor room (11) that challenged our stair climbing skills ! But we were well aware from their website. Had great views of the town center and a great location to stroll around the town. The floors were very uneven to say the least in this very old building. Excellent location for touring the Cotswolds. We tremendously enjoyed our stay !

For such an old and charming building, the rooms and amenities were great! Our room was spacious with a sitting area and lots of storage space for our luggage and such. The bathroom was modern with a nice shower. Breakfasts were pleasant and the one dinner we had there was delicious. Service was attentive. We travel a lot and I rarely write reviews but felt this place deserved some praise!

Stopped by for a late bite to eat and had the risotto and the pot pie -- the risotto was perfectly good but the pot pie was just about as delicious as they come. Really wonderful pork, salty and delicious, gorgeous flaky crust. The veg sides were really good as well, good broccoli and carrots.

Staff were extremely friendly and its very cute inside, nice atmosphere! :)
