This is a charming hotel but there are some issues.
Room 1 was very small, made worse by having too much furniture. Room was very hot and bed uncomfortable.
Breakfast was disappointing, no cereal, fruit or yoghurt on the menu. We were sat in the garden shed so maybe there was some in the dining room, but we were not offered any. I was taking part in the Great South Run and fancied an espresso coffee. I had to pay £3 extra for the smallest espresso I’ve ever seen! My partner wanted a sausage and bacon sandwich but was told it was one or the other. Why? Both were served with the full English breakfast.
We travelled by train but other guests were complaining about the lack of parking, very few spaces at the hotel and the hotel really should prebook them. One couple took an hour to find somewhere to park.
Hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood very close to the seafront. Nice location.
I would only return if improvements made, especially to customer service.

We recently stayed in room 8 at Florence Suites. The room was clean and tidy . However the bed was very hard and uncomfortable and there was a light outside the bedroom window which shone all night into the room making it impossible to sleep properly. The curtains were thin and unlined which did not help. Blackout curtains are definitely needed in this room. The breakfast was fine with hot choices eg full English , Eggs Royale, Eggs Benedict. Cereals a choice of cornflakes or Fruit and Fibre also granola with fruit and yogurt. I would not return here on account of the bed and light neither would I recommend friends to stay here. With a new comfortable bed and blackout curtains it would be fine.

We stayed for two nights in August in a superior room which was decorated in a shabby chic style. It was clean, but dusty, and not serviced during our stay (COVID-19 cop out to reduce costs, perhaps). The hotel consists of a number of houses linked to form a hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was very good (despite the burnt toast). As the weather was warm during our stay, we kept the windows open and slept well because the hotel is in a quiet residential area. We thought the hotel was expensive for the £350 we paid for a two night stay. We were lucky to be able to park in one of the limited parking spaces at the hotel, but they also provide permits for on-street parking.

There were some really odd rules we had to agree to before our stay, and we felt a bit like being at school being told the dos and don’ts. The bar closed at 9pm and you couldn’t add the costs of drinks to the room. We wouldn’t stay here again, unless the price reflects the quality of the hotel - but if there are discounts, we would recommend it to others. The location is good, and a short walk to the pebble beach, but there are some parts of Southsea that have seen better days,

We had a room on the top floor, the room was clean and tidy and had everything we required .
Staff at reception were friendly and when we asked for a fan one was delivered to our room.
What let this hotel down was customer service and the standard of food at breakfast.
We booked for 2 nights and breakfast on both days we were served milk that was sour, no real apology was given, day one forgot the toast, the items on the cooked breakfast were poor quality.
We had dinner at the Florence Arms and it was excellent , the manager gave us excellent customer service and the quality of the food was also excellent. The Florence Arms is a must visit if you want good service and they also gave us discount for staying at the hotel something we were not told by the hotel reception.

Loved our stay here. Beautiful decor, spacious room, spotlessly clean, friendly and efficient staff. Was a little concerned about parking but it turned out to be fine; simply picked up permit and circled a couple of times to find a space. Decent location; not far to pubs and restaurants. A bit of a walk to the Mary Rose etc but this didn’t other us, we enjoyed having a wander. Super, quality breakfast and lovely service; we had to pay extra for a latte which was slightly disappointing, I think 1 coffee each could be included in the price, but overall we were very impressed.
