After traipsing around Gunwharf there is nothing better than a cuppa and a piece of cake.....Voilà.....Patiserie Valerie! 2 pots of Suki loose leaf tea (as it should be), 1 slab of Black Forest Gateau and a large Almond Frangipane Tart....Yum Yum x

The rudest staff I have ever been served by. I literally have no idea why they feel the need to be so horrible to people who want to enjoy some cake and coffee.

We were given a voucher for a Christmas present and only now decided to use it. We had a few dietary requirements and the staff could not have been any more helpful. The little finger sandwiches and mini cakes were excellent and so was the unlimited tea. We were even allowed four cakes to take away in a box as part of the deal and although the strawberry tart was not part of that, they let us take it away. All in all, a very pleasurable experience.

I have visited this cafe on a couple of occasions in the past, on my own and with a friend. The cakes are really good. Unfortunately this weekend we were spoken to very rudely by the waiter who insisted we stand in a queue at the door where people were buying cakes to take out. There were two empty tables inside the cafe and nobody in the queue was waiting for a table. This cafe has table service and the door to the side that we used to enter the cafe apparently was the wrong door. The waiter would not let us have a table so we left and will not be visiting this cafe again.
My recommendation to others considering visiting this cafe is to only enter if there is no queue so there is no confusion.
