Owner description: Verulamium Park is a public park in the City of St Albans, Hertfordshire. Along with being a wide open area for recreational purposes, the park includes all that is left of a Roman settlement from which the park takes it's name. The large amount of history on view in the park has resulted in a museum dedicated to the Historic Roman heritage upon which St Albans has been built. The park also includes a long list of facilities including; Tennis courts, sand courts, football and cricket pitches, An athletics track and field facility, a golf course, childrens play area, outdoor childrens Splash Park, a large leisure facility called westminster lodge Leisure Centre which contains a gym and indoor swimming pool, a cafe, a large lake fed by the River Ver, plenty of provision for picnics and family activities and what is thought to be the oldest and one of the most famous public houses in England called The Fighting Cocks. Overlooking the entire area is the St Albans Abbey, a large cathedral dating back to 1077AD. The park is an epicentre of greenery and wildlife and it is a hub of social and recreational activity that the people of St Albans can be extremely proud of.

This lovely park has something for everyone - huge green spaces, play parks for the young and small children, an outdoor gym, sports facilities, ruins and a lovely lake. A wonderful outdoor space - St Albans is really blessed!

Lovely place to visit but can get really busy on warm days and holiday, lots of wildlife to see and a cafe to visit nearby or even a short walk into the centre of st albans

Watching the ducks and geese on the frozen lake as people strolled past, surrounded by history and views of the Abbey on the hill was made even more special by the appearance of a kingfisher along the Ver flashing about in spectacular technicolour as he flew about.

The park was covered with snow and the lake frozen over when we visited. The Roman Walls, while small, were nice to visit during our walk. I'm sure the park is lovely during the summer - in winter it had its charm. Good for stretching out the legs and there are some good attractions nearby.

This is a beautiful park next to a very urban St Alban's supported by plenty of cheap parking. As the name suggests the site had a Roman complex in it which has long gone. There are a few Roman reminders in the Park such as a wall.

This is a unique park in the sense that the park is clutter free and you have nice undulating open green views. I find the park atmospheric and can’t help thinking about the Romans and when they lived here.

There is plenty to see and do like visit, the museum, the cathedral and the shopping centre all within easy walking distance.
