Establishment very well staffed. Easy check in and check out. Comfortable room and clean. Good breakfast with continental and cooked breakfast styles on offer. Close to the city centre and restaurants and bars. As used by the public for events e.g. afternoon tea, reception area can be quite busy at times.

A wonderful hotel tucked away at the bottom of the high street.Courteous and polite staff welcome you the minute you step through the door.My room (a cosy double) was clean and spacious - perfect for the overnight stay which we did. As the room was on the ground floor , facing the street, it could prove to be a little noisy ( with the road outside) but naturally this eases off during the night, as did the music from the bar next door ( all music was off by 23:15) ,so an unhindered night's sleep. Breakfast gets busy but you are encouraged to book a time slot. Food is amazing...a choice of freshly cooked ( possibly locally sourced also) options or continental .
All staff are polite and attentive...nothing is too much trouble.

I'm glad to read your positive comments on your breakfast and to hear our staff treated you well. of course being a city centre location means we do sometimes get noise outside which sometimes we cannot control.

Do not bother with any theme nights this hotel has, I booked one for a work Christmas Do and what we received was not as advertised. I queried this with The Falstaff and got completely ignored. Never going back there, ever!

Our daughter is studying in Kent and we wanted to visit her and spend some time strolling around the city (husband had never been). I had stayed in Canterbury overnight before and know how difficult it is to find parking, especially if you want to stay in the centre and leave the car close to the hotel. This time I decided to look for a hotel with included parking (although understanding that it cannot be guaranteed as the spaces are limited). Very positive experience. The staff we came in contact with were exceptional, the room was clean, cosy and had everything we needed (not sure if it would be suitable for more than one or two nights as there was no wardrobe storage except for 4 or 5 hangers on the wall). The location is central and is surrounded by restaurants, shops and, of course, historical sites. Although check-out was at 12:00 we were allowed to leave our car at the hotel until 14:00 to enable us to have lunch and visit the cathedral (this cannot be guaranteed but most likely will always be possible as the next check-in is 15:00). Overall a very good experience and will definitely use again next time we are there.

Note: Breakfast is NOT free. We booked directly with the hotel and saved around £25 as we knew we wanted to try a breakfast place next door anyway. Breakfast is charged at £12.5 per person. You have a small saving if booking with it already included but if you intend to try other places for breakfast then you are better of booking directly with the hotel.

Overall our stay was pleasant. We specifically asked for a quiet room which the staff kindly organised. The food was ok but lacking in variety for the continental breakfast( they only had melon and pineapple out of which the melon was not ripe so I couldn’t eat it).

I would have given more stars but there are some major improvements they need to do to justify the £ we paid for 2 nights. Our shower door was broken. One of us had to shower whilst the other held the door . The shower head is probably one of the worst I have ever had to use. It’s so high up that it’s inevitable to get your hair completely soaked.

And lastly, before our departure we had 2 hours to kill, during which we wanted to sit and play a game in the hotel facilities, that we rightly paid to use. This wasn’t possible due to how many bookings they had, the hotel was packed downstairs. We were told it would be ok to sit at a particular table. We started our game and then we got moved due to a booking. Fair enough we moved to a different table and set up our game again. Our drink came really late and we were asked 7 times if we wanted a drink, basically ushering us to either order or leave so they can free the table, even though we had ordered a drink! They also added service charge for this drink!
