Dinner at Sheila's cottage was wonderful. It's a lovely clean restaurant tucked away in a steep little side street called the Slack. It has a good atmosphere, friendly helpful staff and great food. The steak & kidney pudding was excellent as was the wife's sea bass with creme Brûlée for desert. The kids meals were also very good, so we all had a very nice time. 10/10

We noticed Sheila's Cottage Restaurant by chance - on our way to another restaurant. We are happy that we stopped. We were 6 people and we all had really good meals. Looking at the menu there were lots of dishes that appealed to me but I ended up with salmon fillet with salad, new potatoes and beetroot which was delicious! The staff were very friendly. We had three meals in Ambleside during our Lake District stay but this was definitely the best!

I ate not once but twice at Sheila's , in the course of a three night stay. Would have gone back for the third night but family group really wanted to try another restaurant ! we tried and shared every fish dish on the menu. All were fantastic . The sharing platter has scrumptious smoked mackerel . The salmon is superb. The sea bass with rice is gorgeous. The smoked haddock with spaghetti spring onions and a cream sauce is pure comfort food after a day in the fresh air. the fish n chips is to die for!
