A large and interesting rock garden and enthusiastic NT staff providing specialist tours around the outside of the house and the garden. The inside of the house is not open on Mondays and is closed 30th October to 1st April.

Called in as we were passing. Nice setting for lunch in the cafe. Reasonable price too. Arrived a bit late and wanted to go in to the Castle. The NT adviser was very helpful and advised to come back to get our money's worth. Ended up joining and getting 10 minutes in the Castle and a good 30 in the grounds. We will be back

This absorbing castle and gardens is an alluring stately home which is well worth a visit when you're near the county of Cumbria, and is about 4 miles south of Kendal.

The family home of the Stricklands for over 750 years and the family history really haunts this place. Some fascinating items inside from the swivel gun to the Staffordshire frog mug.

We never miss Sizergh when in Cumbria. It has one of the best Rockery / Acer gardens we know. The autumn colours are very good at the moment.
