For some reason we'd always gone to the Keswickian on our many stays in Keswick. Now have to say this is our favourite...bigger portions and lovely chips, no hint of sog! All choices good, all plates cleared after our takeaway. Thanks guys!

Had walked past many times on our holiday this week and saved fish and chip treat for our last night. We weren't disappointed. Served quickly by friendly and efficient and the food was hot, fresh and delicious. Small chips and fish very filling. Curry Sauce and mushy pea sides lovely too. Reasonable prices as well. Highly recommend. One of the high lights of our stay at Keswick

Two fish and chips ordered, by the time we got back to the campsite to eat, shock, horror only one fish and two chips, I had to half my fish, just not on! Fish was gorgeous however and the chips spot on. Went back next day, they couldn't have been more apologetic and gave me the money for the fish and change. I like that kind of customer service. Thoroughly recommend, just check your order before leaving.

The Kingfisher is a no-fuss, no-frills "fish and chips" restaurant. All the tables and chairs are varnished pine and the décor is equally simple and to the point but the atmosphere is very warm, friendly and welcoming. We first visited the Kingfisher many years ago and I have never forgotten how accommodating the staff were, Nothing has changed.
The food too was excellent. Earlier in the year we sampled the wares of the Kingfisher's principal competition in Keswick. It was obvious that the food (the chips especially) had been some time in a heated cabinet. There was no hint of this at the Kingfisher - the food appeared to be straight out of the fryer and onto the plate. We visited twice during our week's stay and this was our experience on both occasions.
When we arrived for our second trip the restaurant was full. The waitress who met us at the top of the stairs - all smiles and no signs of stress - indicated that a table would be free in 15 minutes and offered to reserve it for us. We agreed and returning 10 minutes later we were seated and on our way to another satisfying meal.
Any criticisms? Yes, they were in danger of infringing the Trades and Descriptions Act. On their blackboard menu they were advertising Large Cod and Chips. Be warned it should read VERY Large Cod and Chips. It was almost too much to eat but very tasty all the same!
