We have been long term fans of this restaurant, but our visit tonight has completely changed our view. The service was haphazard, we were there 25 minutes before anyone took our drink and food order. Then we waitied..........eventually some of the food arrived, but some of it did not come until much later, and some did not come at all.
The Osho sashimi should have had 20 pieces, but only had 18. No longer is there any surf clam, but some very strong tasting mackeral, no prawn. it was disappointing. That was bad enough, but the the size of the sushi has reduced drastically. So there were only 6 pieces in the catford roll and it was bland, the rainbow roll did not have rainbow strips of fish fish, but some terrible looking salmon on it, some of it was not worth eating and barely had any crab in it. On previous visits the sushi was so large you could barely eat it, but no longer. The chicken kara-age has an awful gloopy sauce with it, as did the soft shell crab which came much later in the meal, and was barely warm. The miso never arrived at all. We complained at the time, and were met with defensive justifications, The bill when it came was for the full amount, despite our clear dissatisfaction with the meal.
We challenged the bill and got a 10% reduction, I still did not feel what we ate was worth it. In the past we received a complimentary plum wine, even this was not forthcoming today. This has not encouraged us to return. Sayonara Sapphoro Ichiban, what a spectacular fall from fantastic to forgetable.
