Who would have thought that the chef could further enhance the quality of his cooking after the delights of his eponymously named restaurant with its confined spaces and rough edges. What a contrast now that he is established in this most swanky location. The cooking is much more refined, not out of place here. No expense spared on the furnishings, and the large teams at the welcome desk, service sections and in the kitchens. You do pay for it though in Above. It's worth it except it would be a more pleasant experience if it were a little less regimented and some of the staff took themselves a little less seriously.

First time at this new restaurant in Piccadilly, as a group of six friends. Our table wasn't ready (we were early) and we went downstairs to the bar, were our welcome could have been been warmer. We were offered a small complimentary cocktail and water, whilst we chose a drink. Shortly after a small amuse bouche (absolutely delicious, chou pastry with warm cheese) appeared - this set some high expectations!

We went up to dinner and the charm continued aided by courses of deliciousness and a fun evening had by all. So good in fact, that I've booked for lunch on 7 Jul and I don't even live in London!

Well done to the HIDE team

From the moment we walked in we all new we where in for a treat. Martin, and I am sorry I did not catch the name of the waitress (from Czech Republic) who assisted him, looked after us in such a professional, knowledgeable and friendly manor. The way they conducted the service and explanation and asides of ‘The Tasting Menu’ was a delight. The food was just divine beautifully cooked and presented. The textures and marriage of flavours was extraordinary I could ramble on for hours just brilliant !!!

Thank Peter K

I dined with a business associate and opted for the tasting menu, accompanied by a decent bottle of 2000 Paulliac.

The restaurant has a modern, spacious and relatively informal atmosphere, very conducive for a relaxed evening. The staff were well groomed, professionally attired and clearly on top of their respective roles. The explanation of each course was fascinating, without being too intrusive.

Each course boasted culinary intrigue and artistry and was delightfully presented and served. Thus is one of the more expensive restaurants in London, but the price matches the culinary experience, especially if you fancy a relaxed, memorable evening, but without ‘white service’ frills.

Thank Philip B
