We happened on the Phoenix Hostel totally by chance. From outside the place didn't even really look open. However we pushed through the door and a pub revealed itself, which partly looked like someone's fron room and partly like a students' union meeting place. There are both tables and chairs alongside settees and armchairs in front of a playing television. The Yorkshire-born barman was incredibly nice and friendly, and the other customers all in their early twenties. Drinks there are inexpensive.

Great location in a quiet neighborhood and close to main London's attractions. Great lounge area with TV and a bar makes it very easy to meet some interesting people from different countries. The conditions are just okay for the price paid. Awesome staff!!! The assistant manager Scott is the best guy ever! Really helpful and polite!
A great spot to visit in London!

i stayed a couple nights in this hostel and after staying in various youth hostels in London i was really pleased with this one. CHEAP, CLEAN and GENUINELY FRIENDLY. the location is brilliant, two minutes away from tube station and buses, so easy to get to Oxford circus, Camden, Brick Lane from there.. the dorms (i stayed in the cheapest one with many beds) are very clean, quiet, safe and super comfy. i slept like a baby after a very long flight, it was cold when i was there but it was nice and warm in the hostel (+enormous blanket! yasss ). breakfast available for two pounds, not the best but easy and cheap. hot water, many (clean) showers and toilets. i especially liked the vibe. the staff is extremely helpful, welcoming and friendly and this attitude, coupled to the configuration of living room-like common area, makes it really easy to spark a conversation and meet everybody. i went there alone but never felt lonely and met cool ppl, staff and guests, despite staying for a short time. wifi works perfectly(for free) and you can socialize at the bar but also enjoy a good night sleep since there is ZERO noise in the dorms. i totally recommend this economical, social and cosy hostel!
