On a day out, our group of 12 had a booking here - on arrival they'd lost our booking and couldn't accommodate immediately, so we had an hour downstairs in the bar until a table could be made available for us.
The bar is (as others have commented) dark and loud - and expensive - and we eventually went upstairs to get dinner.
The wine list was extensive and had a number of very good wines available, but I found the food to be rather average and bland. And when I ordered the breaded spatchcock chicken, it came only with rocket salad and nothing else - if you need any vegetables or any sides you have to order separately whacking the price up.
It's a name and overall we had a good time, but expensive and lacking in the real "wow" factor on the food. Table service was very average and lacking in flair. We'd have to really consider whether we'd head back to Hix.
