Possibly one of the worst meals I've experienced in years ... and I've suffered a few shockers. We arrived about 2pm on a Sunday lunchtime in late May. Perhaps it was a bit late but they took our order so we assumed the kitchen was operating normally, except they'd run out of the superfood salad. The pub itself was pleasant enough - quaint, friendly atmosphere and some good beers - but the food when it arrived was poor. To be fair, the halloumi burgers (£8 each) were probably no worse than your ordinary bland pub food but the crayfish salad (also £8) was unacceptable. Our companion - a Londoner - counted three fragments of crayfish in some pinkish sauce smeared across a few slices of toast. She made a valiant stab at it but it was past saving. I'm normally forgiving about kitchens having bad days (we often don't see the dramas challenging them at times), but if for some reason a chef can't prepare a dish to an acceptable standard, they should just say so and customers can order something else. The total bill with three drinks was £34.
