Having given up on Ronnie Scott's, due to people talking loudly during performances, I wondered how visitors would react to the announcement that this restaurant operates a "silence policy" while artists are on stage. I should have known rather than wondered. It appears that some people do not know what such a policy means or simply choose to rudely ignore it.

The food, for us, was the usual Pizza Express fare (good pizzas, etc.) and the service couldn't be faulted.

Pizza Express Jazz has gone the way of Ronnie Scotts which means that on a Friday and Saturday you pay for just the one set of jazz which in our case cost £25 each and lasted for fractionally over one hour, including an encore. The jazz started at around 7.50 pm and was over before 9pm. You have to eat early doors and you are asked top leave before a different band begins their set at 10pm. Used to be good value for money but now it's a bit of a ripoff. Jazz in Central London is now becoming exceedingly expensive which is a great shame.

That pizza express food is average we all know, so when I decided to go to the jazz club to see my friends playing I was prepared of the food that I was going to eat. I had a pizza Margherita which costed me £15!!!! That's already on its own outrageous. Anyway, what was more shocking was the service. Each of the members of staff looked really miserable and the blonde lady which open the door of the venue downstairs was extremely rude. I felt sorry for the team as the evening was busy and it is definitely hard to work whilst musicians are playing and there is no much light. However, 2 of the dishes ordered weren't delivered and the service was not satisfactory. The food bill included 12.5% service anyway and we spent a great amount of money for a really average food and unsatisfactory service. NEVER EVER AGAIN - if in soho and you really want to go to enjoy the great musicians, stick to a drink! And eat somewhere else.

I ordered a pasta dish - it arrived luke warm, and it was a case of 'spot the salmon/prawn'! Lots of cold, bland, white sauce with pasta, and only a few pieces of fish/seafood. Not what you expect for £13!
