Sushi is something incredible, i've ordered the Over the top sharing platter and was fully loaded with mouth watering specialities, wild caviar, bluefin tuna, Scottish salmon...wow...fresh and tasty, the best i've ever tried. And the decor is really nice, happy and funny with original Pop Art and the retro games from the eighties where also so funny to play with! The owner is Italian and really nice and welcoming, thanks to his smile and the delicious sushi prepared by his wife, we have spent a really nice evening here and we will be back soon with friends!

My friends and I were very much looking forward to trying pop art sushi. We ordered the Lucky 8 to share amongst ourselves with tiger tempura temaki, sweet potato croquettes and some other dishes and drinks. The sushi was ok – I have had better sushi in other places in London. Our bill came to a total of £86 (this was the total on our receipt), however the manager tried telling us that we should pay £150 as there is a minimum charge of £25 per person which were only told about when requesting the bill. There was no mention of this on Book A Table when we made our reservations, nor were we told this before ordering.

The owner became very angry and aggressive. We asked why we weren’t informed of this but he was very rude and he just demanded we pay the requested amount at once otherwise he would call the police. He spoke to his colleague to formulate a plan and shortly after we found him walking towards the door with the keys in his hand ready to lock us in (the restaurant had no other customers but us the whole time we were there). Later that evening he physically stood in front of the door and wouldn’t let my friends and I out, until I dialled 999 and informed the police that the manager had attempted to lock us up in the restaurant not once but twice that evening. If you read further down the reviews he has previously held people in the restaurant due to bill discrepancies in exactly the same way.

He verbally abused us by saying that the amount we ordered was ‘shameful’ and that we ‘should have ordered more’ especially since we were ‘taking up so much space’ (just a reminder that we were his only customers that night). He attempted to grab the phone out of my hand several times out of paranoia that I was recording as he was worried there would be evidence of his behaviour. We have never been treated with such disrespect before and I could not believe the things he was saying.

When the police came they listened to our story and told the owner that we will pay £86 and nothing more as we were correct. I would recommend staying away from this place and to always check your bill as they will try and rip you off. If you want to eat proper sushi there are several places in London that will provide you with a headache-free experience!!

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I’m so happy you've found our sushi good and sorry to hear that you did not enjoy some of our terms and conditions. Unfortunately we have some rules to apply to grant the best experience possible to all our customers. You booked with our partner Bookatable a table for 6 people, and during the payment process you agreed to leave your card details to take 25£ just in case of last minute cancellation or "no show". This service is free for you because we pay to Bookatable a fee of 5£ for each customer, for the credit card guarantee and the booking, for a total of 30£. in your case, not really cheap. Then you've asked to use the Taste Card, asking for the 241 offer. when on the Taste Card website is clearly stated that the offer is for 2 people and you have to call to check availability. Then you've arrived here just in five and a bicycle, asking to have the bike next to your table, and we have found a solution for you, reminding that the taste card can't be used for a party of 6, can't be used if you book on Bookatable and there is a minimum spending of 25£ to cover the 5£ booking fee paid by us. So i've agreed with your long bearded fried to please maintain the 25£ minimum spending and then i will be happy to offer you more free dishes, also if you don't respect the rules we are Italians and always happy to find a nicer solution for you. You agreed, but ordered just ONE sharing platter (usually shared between two people, not 6), a starter and a few drinks. Then you asked for the bill, and i've remembered our agreement, but you've changed your mind. So your nice friend with long uncovered hairs and an iPhone always pointed to my face, agreed with me to pay just the bill and the 5£ commissions taken by Bookatable. Fair enough. But again you said you don't care and want to pay just the food ordered. I've said was not possible, reminding you our previous deal, and you've spent almost an hour complaining about our rules, clearly stated many times BEFORE you've placed the order with us. We are really clear about our terms and conditions, stated on our website and now (thanks to your complain) also during the Bookatable booking process, if you book for 5 or more people you take a big part of our little family restaurant, so you can't cancel last minute or drink just a cup of tea. Our CCTV was shown to the Police who just confirmed an aggressive behaviour from your bearded friend, no one was closed in the restaurant and no one was threatened, otherwise i would be probably in jail and not here writing to you. Your feedback is really important for us, we are a little family business and we always try to do our best. Working with love, in just more than a year we have received hundreds of five stars reviews, we have won sushi contests and we are defined the best sushi in Uk by bloggers, actors, musicians and sushi lovers from all over the world, but we work hard to give our customers the best possible experience and, if we fail to do that, we are always very open to feedback. It is helpful if we receive this at the time of the meal so that we can address your concerns immediately but we are sorry, once again, that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. As-salamu alaykum, Leandro

to start with the positive point: sushi is good, fresh, the idea to combine this with pop art and italians is very strange. The italian/owner (?) of this restaurant is very nice, I think he missed his job as an entertainer. The restaurant is not our style, not so attractive, but we had fun.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave feedback. I’m very happy that you've found our sushi good and fresh and also very happy to be defined a "strange combination" because without "strange combinations" humanity would not have made any progress. Was strange when a few years ago Eminem, a white guy, was defined the best rapper in the world, and was strange when an Italian girl called Bebe Vio, without arms and legs won two medals at the Paralympics or when the beautifully tube station of Tottenham Court road was decorated by Sir Eduardo Luigi Paolozzi.. Life is often strange and we are so happy to be different. Many people have tried to homologate all the others before, and is a scary solution in our view. But we work always hard to give all our customers the best possible experience and, if we fail to do that, we are always very open to feedback. It is helpful if we receive this at the time of the meal so that we can address your concerns immediately, but we are sorry, once again, that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. Best wishes, Leandro

Really good decor, yummy variety of sushi and above all excellent service. Came here for a second time after having bad luck somewhere else and was happy to receive prompt and courteous service. Really enjoyed sitting outside on the lovely warm night.

The other reviews do not lie when they raved about this little gem of a restaurant. It's tucked away just off the busy roads around Vauxhall station. The sushi was fantastic and the service was wonderful. It's owned and run by an Italian couple that obviously love their business and their customers. We even had a go at playing a 70's Tomy ball game! Very fun!
Superb pop art surrounds the walls.
A perfect change from consistent, characterless and placid vibe/quality of chain restaurants.
