Good Friday is always a trial by fire to see how a restaurant can cope. Beautifully in this case. We chose The Fisherman's Wife initially because it seemed to be the only place in Whitby that served Oysters which my husband enjoyed while I looked the other way. Plenty of good staff kept things running smoothly. We tried the pan fried Sea Bass on crab mash at £14.95 and pan fried Haddock on crushed potato with pea puree at £14.99. Both were sweet and delicious. It overlooks the sea which always adds to the flavour. ( Liked the beach huts on the toilets seats too.) Must be one of the best places to eat in Whitby.

Fantastic place, lovely staff, excellent service, Oysters were lovely and well presented, starter and main course was beautiful, we didn't have room for a desert but they looked amazing, the views over the sea were fabulous. We had a great time there.

We visited the top three Tripadvisor fish and chip restaurants during our three night stay, and this came out third. The views out to sea are fantastic, but the decor and furniture are more akin to a cafe than a restaurant. The fish and chips were good, but very greasy. There was a pool of grease left on my plate after I had finished, and boy did I suffer later.
We did not feel as if we could sit around after our meal. It was just not condusive to this.
