I booked this hotel quite late as I only wanted to stay for one night to visit my son on a weekend and was finding nearly all the hotels wanted a minimum 2 night stay. The Cavalier didn't which was most helpful. I initially booked a single room but on arrival Julia, who was lovely and very helpful, said she had had a cancelation and gave me a lovely double room at the rear of the hotel for the same price. Although I didn't have an ensuite I had a basin in the room which was fine. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room had plenty of storage space so if you were staying longer you would have enough room to hang clothes or put them away. The best part was the plug socket was right by a long mirror....in so many hotels the plug socket isn't near a mirror at all.
Julia also allowed me to keep my suitcase at the hotel on the Sunday until I left as the room throwing out time was 10am and my train didn't leave until 4pm.
Close enough to the town, and about a 10/15 min walk from the train station. Lovely little guest house. will definitely stay again.More
