After a day walking through snow (mini beast from the east) our host told us we had the place to ourselves as everyone else had cancelled.Their loss was our gain and we had a great stay in an authentic farmhouse, in our warm beds. Great value for money and super location for the Hadrian's wall walk.

We arrived at the Farm after a long day of walking, the owners weren't there so we phoned the mobiles advertised on the window of the main house. There was no reply from either mobile and no one returned our messages. They turned up nearly 2hrs later, more concerned with their own friends/family they had turning up for the evening

We had booked B&B en suite rooms ( shower didn't work) had to use the campers facilities which were dirty. We were led to believe we had sole access to the rooms but discovered we had to share the kitchen/dining area with other guests at breakfast ( not an issue if aware of the situation on booking)After making a complaint to the owner we negotiated a discounted rate but it doesn't make up for the unsatisfactory accommodation.

Room Tip: Nice area but if walking Hadrians wall there's better options available

There are great places to stay in the UK that are clean and well maintained with very hospitable owners...and then there is Greencarts Farm. We booked 2 B&B rooms back in February for two couples. After a long day walking we were looking forward to getting to our accommodation. The owners were not at the farm when we arrived at about 5pm so we phoned the mobiles advertised on the window of the main house. There was no reply from either mobile and no one returned our messages. One hour and a half later, the owner turned up! Some other waiting guests had been trying to call them all afternoon! We ended up in the two bunk rooms in the bunkhouse which was available to us exclusively but we had to share the kitchen facilities with people who had paid for breakfast and were staying in the barn dormitory.

The facilities here are not great, e.g. the shower in the bunkhouse worked eventually after we contacted the owner but there was no hot water. We had to use the campers communal facilities next door which were dirty plus the drains in the ladies showers were blocked so overflowed! We did complain to the owner that we were not happy about the facilities as there were a few other issues. We negotiated a reduced rate but the whole experience was so disappointing.

The owners don't seem that bothered and should really decide whether they want to continue in the accommodation business. They certainly need to spend a bit of cash upgrading the facilities and the whole place needs a good clean! The website should also be updated as it is misleading. Compared to other places we stayed along Hadrian's Wall, Greencarts Farm was by far the worst and we would not recommend staying here!

Whilst walking Hadrian's Wall, this was a perfect accommodation for the night. Three of us shared a two bunk room which was warm and clean; shower and loo shared with the other two bunk room which was no problem at all. We pre-ordered a cooked English breakfast which was brought over from the farmhouse by our host.

As we had missed out a bit of the wall on the previous night, we needed to go back to Chollerford and our host very kindly took us rather than have us wait for a taxi - this was an impromptu request but very gratefully accepted - thank you!!

After various previous emails and phone calls stating the date, they booked us in for the night before. Made worse by the fact it was a bank holiday weekend and we had just cycled the toughest part of the Coast to Coast Challenge in aid of Sea Shepherd Marine Conservation.
On phoning around for alternative accommodation we found out that this was a regular occurrence with Green Carts!
