Just returned from a twilight spa this is my second time to the spa the first time we did a day time spa deal. My friend and I purchased the deal on wowcher which was amazing value. We got afternoon tea from 3-5 in the amazing Blue Room in such luxurious surroundings what more could you want. (had afternoon tea there before) then the spa from 5-8. Compared to Eden, Ragdale, Aqua Sana which I've been to this is excellent value for money particularly on this deal.
The afternoon tea was absolutely scrummy, scones, clotted cream, tart, biscuit, few sandwiches, not too much but you don't want to sink in the pool but then they also will box anything up for you. However we were quite disgusted with our service; the waitress had a definite attitude all the way through, we weren't sure if it was because we were on a 'deal' or if she just had atrocious customer service. Which is crazy as surely it's to tempt us back and my husband and I already have a Weekend booked at Thoresby in April so I am now a little concerned if that's the standard of customer service throughout - I hope not!! Little things like my friend had to take an urgent phone call and she felt virtually told off on her return, 'oh you're back she said!' She had Only gone a few minutes and we hadn't even started. We had used the spoons for the jam (they were with the jam) when we asked for tea spoons for the dessert in a very rude manner she said you've used them for ham they were supposed to be for the panacotta something to that affect. Instead of politely saying certainly I'll get you a couple of tea spoons. Won't bore you with more you get the jist.Basically Rachel didn't live up to standard of the rest of the experience and development feedback required bit of customer service training but my friend and I had a good laugh about it and still enjoyed the food, amazing view out the windows.
Then went off to the spa. The staff were very very friendly there yay!!! Had a complimentary Buck's Fizz on arrival very nice. Then off to the lockers. Robe and towel are provided in the locker. One of the steam rooms were out of action so we got a complimentary hot drink of our choice which was lovely part way through in the relaxing area. Spent few hours chilling in bubbles and heat with my friend fab. Large pool, one aromatherapy room, sauna, steam room. Obviously it's a hotel spa not a dedicated spa but still plenty to do. Wasn't the hottest spa I've been too but was the end of the day and it's winter I suppose.
Not the best spa out there But for the price and the surroundings amazing value for money can't wait to go back.
Just come back from another twilight spa at Thoresby Hall, again it has been totally fantastic, the staff and service where amazing, both me and my partner received a head massage, and it was amazing! Seriously relaxing. The foot spa was out of order and so was the Turkish steam room but it didn't matter, everything else was spot on, highly recommend to everyone and already looking forward to coming back again
Beware of the soggy chips!
A year ago we had dinner in the Blue Room and were served ‘triple cooked chips' - but instead of being crisp and gold they were brown and soggy. I complained - and was told the Head Chef was still learning to cook chips! We returned a year later and s/he still clearly had not learnt to cook chips. Brown and soggy - another main course and evening spoilt.
Beyond the chips issue, we wonder how much of their food they buy in, largely pre-prepared.
Stayed September 2016, travelled as a couple
During our stay at the hotel I booked us into the Spa (£30 for the spa for 2 people and £35 per person for a 25 minute back & shoulder massage). The spa was good, although the foot spa was out of action, as it was on our previous visit in July. The relax room, hydrotherapy, swimming pool etc was enjoyable. It is always a pity when something taints what had been a good experience; we were late being taken for our massage and our treatment only lasted 15 minutes. I complained to the manager, and she couldn’t have been more unhelpful if she had tried. She disputed the time we were taken, stating she had a camera and the therapist collected us at the correct time, she babbled on about the clocks being 5 minutes fast, and although she did offer another massage, the way she handled the situation did not encourage our return. The Spa does get busy and this lady was well rehearsed in recounting this spiel, although perhaps a course in customer service might serve her better. A simply apology, not an argument would have sufficed. It’s a shame that one person in the whole organisation can let it down!
We are five friends who come here 3 or 4 times a year. Lovely place, staff mostly friendly and welcoming.great relaxing place with good facilities but we were a little disappointed this time as one of the steam rooms wasn't working... The foot spa is still broken ( they said they are waiting for a part but it wasn't working in July on our last visit either) also some of the head rests were broken and coming away in one of the jacuzzis ..the jacuzzi and pool were cold. Other than this we had a lovely facial and the meal was good. We usually rebook on the way out and this always seems to cause some confusion. The staff seem to struggle with rebooking some packages and sometimes argue among themselves and end up getting names wrong on the forms. All in all we usually have a good time here but I hope they can sort out repairs and customer service as this is a lovely place but could end up having too many bad reviews. Have booked again so hope things improve fingers crossed.
Glorious venue. Staff were extremely helpful, we arrived late, they did everything they could to accommodate our treatments. Greeted at reception with Buck's Fizz. Facilities were great, plenty of different saunas, aromacave, steam rooms, ice cave and a pool. Also a rest area. My ESPA Facial was fantastic and delicate products were used as I have sensitive skin. We also had lunch for 2 and the food was great. The only issue we had was leaving purses/wallets in our lockers when we needed to pay for drinks, unfortunately contactless via phone is not available. I would highly recommend Thoresby Hall.
