Nice old place near to the city center.
The staff is really nice and helpful and the breakfast is surprisingly good and have a adequate choice if you see it is not a hotel "just" a small inn.
We had a family visit two adult a small kid and it was great fun.

Visited on Saturday with a group of friends to watch the rugby . Not as busy as it previous visits but still a good crowd . Shame they didn't gave any hand pulled beer . Bar snacks quite limited though so eat before hand

I have stayed here several times but not since my son graduated a few years ago. All seemed to be fine this time as well until I returned from dinner to find a party going on in the bar under my room. I expected the party to stop at 2300, but it was still going strong at 1200, so I rang the hotel land line to ask what was going on. Despite promises from the staff that the party was about to end and my getting out of bed, getting dressed and going downstairs to complain at 0100, the noise only eventually died away at 0120 on the Sunday morning. When I went downstairs to complain, I was offered a move to another room and a coffee or a whisky as compensation. I was not too pleased with this and was told that a manager would be on hand to deal with my complaint later in the morning. When I had breakfast there was no-one around to talk to me about the problem. It is clear to me that there were other rooms available when I checked in but that I was put into the room above the party without any thought at all. I have sent an email to the management outlining the events, but have not received a reply. Very poor indeed.

Room tip: Don't accept a room within earshot of the bar.

Lovely old coaching inn with plenty of character. If you are tall like me, you will need to watch your head throughout the place. The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was really nice. Room was clean. Location is great, just a few minutes walk from the town centre. The road outside is quite busy so can be noisy at times.

We did have a problem when we showed up early, hoping to leave our luggage there while we went around town, because it was locked and there was nobody there. However, when we showed up at the normal check-in time there was someone there who was very nice.

The ground floor is a tavern which is a mix of quaint and tacky (video gambling machine). The building generally looks like the old coaching inn that it is, with lots of nice exposed wood and old-style architecture, but a clean modern bathroom. The wi-fi worked fine. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was traditional English, with very nice and helpful cook/waiter.

It is a little bit of a walk into the old town, but a very short bus ride from a very nearby stop at which several bus lines stop.

For other towns it might be pricey but for Oxford it was cheaper than most.
