Such an impressive hotel! The old Victoria railway station with grand entrance staircase and period features. A little bit shabby round the edges and some would say dated (some bits of the bar furniture are worn) but I think this adds to the charm!
Got an upgrade to the 1863 suite which was like stepping back in time! I wonder who stayed there in the past?! Lounge, dining room, four poster bed, and huge ornate bathroom with massage shower and a jacuzzi bath! All this just for me and my daughter! We had a great time!
The room service and bar menu is pretty standard of holiday inn and perhaps lacks a bit of imagination. I'd have like to seen a traditional afternoon tea on there. We visited family in Sheffield so went out for dinner and breakfast but the restaurant looked and sounded lovely.
Staff were friendly and helpful and we couldn't have asked for a better stay. More
