We had a very quick and smooth check in and received our chocolate chip cookie which was very nice. We had booked a double deluxe room which was very nice but quite small, due to the fact that we had booked a deluxe room there should have been some welcome fruit and chocolates in the room but they were not there when we arrived. I went down to reception to enquire about this and was told they would be sent up straight away, after well over half and hour we called reception and was told that they would be sending our fruit and chocolate up to us but the kitchen was busy. After approximately 15 mins after a telephone call to reception the chocolate and fruit arrived. Breakfast was quite reasonable although the food could have been slightly warmer. The variety at breakfast was very good though. We did not use the swimming pool or spa facilities but my husband had a full body massage at the above and beyond therapy spa upstairs and he said it was first class. All in all we had a very refreshing break and would definately come back.

We booked to stay here for 1 night mid Feb. It was for a special cause so we decided to upgrade our stay and stay in the 'King Deluxe Room'. The facilities in this room are great and you also get robes and slippers. When we made the booking we was informed that the upon arrival, the room would have Fruit and Chocolate in it which it did not. We was however greeted with a warm cookie on arrival that was very delicious. We opted for room service and the food was good but there was a couple of things missing, we ordered a prawn cocktail that was supposed to come with granary bread (and it didn't, We called the front desk and it took about 10 mins to fetch the bread up) We also ordered a Cheese & Onion sandwich..and this came without any onion, They also fetched up Salt and Pepper pots that were both empty. I'm not normally one to complain but on top of this there is a £3 room charge if you want room service and the price of food is already pretty expensive as it is. Once we was tucked up we was woken at 2am by someone running down the corridors and knocking on the doors, This happened about 3 times and we could hear a young girl & boy finding this some what amusing. It seemed like allot of things went wrong on our stay which is a shame as being your everyday people we was really looking forward to a night away. The experience was what we made of it rather than what was provided, although the pool, steam room and sauna were brilliant!

We arrived at the hotel to a powercut. The management said that we (party of 5) had 2 options: either go to the Hilton in town or wait a couple of hours later on the off chance that National Grid will fix them with a generator. We came back later after a meal to find the generator in place and everything worked fine. We had a bottle of wine as recompense.
The reception was friendly and the staff welcoming. We booked dinner, bed and breakfast for the 2 nights of our stay. The nouveau cuisine was appreciated by all of us except by father in law. It took them 3 hours to serve the 3 course meals which is a LOOOONNG time especially when the restaurant is not full. However, we spent the time conversing and so did not let it bother us.
The room was adequate and comfortable. The air condition was okay but very directional on my son. We had a bit of guesswork on what the symbols mean. The toiletries were good (Crabtree and Evelyn). We had complementary bottles of water and good choice of hot beverages.
They had an Indian wedding in the afternoon in which the guests completely swamped all the entrances – can’t be bothered to park in the car park but that was dealt with – they left when the party was over!
Would I come again? I would because of the friendly staff, the hotel location and free car parking (which is so rare these days). The attention to detail was amazing and they have a dedicated careline which will supply all your requirements. I stayed in hotels all over the world and this is one of the better ones.
My father-in-law mentioned that he prefers the carvery nearby, so probably we’ll do without the dinner.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Queen guest room on the 2nd floor - even number. View is pretty good

Dear tanya8888

We are delighted you have had an enjoyable stay and I can only apologise for the delay in the restaurant. The power cut did cause some unexpected problems putting us behind schedule.

We do hope to be your preferred choice when you next return to Sheffield.

Kind regards

Steven.

We stayed here for the night. We were going to Sheffield Uni for my sons interview. The train prices were £100 each so we chose to stay here as it was cheaper to drive and stay overnight.
Easy to find, lots of parking. The staff welcomed us and gave us warmed chocolate cookies. We went to the bar and the staff were very attentive and we had a lovely meal which was quick and really nice. Breakfast was great and plenty of choice. The room was clean and well presented.
In the morning we asked the reception staff how to get to the University and they suggested leave the car at the hotel and catching the bus in. Brilliant worked out a treat. We returned at 4 pm picked up the car.
We certainly will come here again.

Stayed here for 2 nights for a conference on site, overall no complaints although some areas of the hotel were very cold.
The dining room in particular seemed to have no heating on, surprising when it was around -1 outside, on the 2nd day they had installed some electric heaters which helped, good to see they took notice of feedback.
The gym was small as hotel one usually are but it was well equipped and nice to see a small studio there, the pool and sauna areas well kept and clean.
The food was ok but could have been better, service was a little slow at times, but as I said nothing to actually complain about..... would recommend.
