It has been awhile since I have been here and having been again it was worth while.
Some of the workshops date from the 18th Century, arranged around the edges with water dam to the south, which was used and still is used to power the water wheels, I think that there are at least 3.
The staff that work the site are enthusiastic and informative and will entertain the young people and answer their questions.
It is interesting to see who people used to work, and important to keep it going.

Allmost a cottage industry, compact site, with original workshops,in a square, around the green and the workers cottages as you come in.It shows what 19th centuary life was like,no health and safety.Very nice cafe order a snack sandwiches etc as you pay the very cheap entrance fee.As it was December, there was only guide,Nicholas who was very helpful.Enjoyable visit

Arrested state of decay - like stepping back hundreds of years, the workshops the housing and the processes all on one compact site. An essential part of our industrial heritage explained through a simple short presentation film and backed up a set of time line information boards. You can wander through the site, crucible furnace, workshops, tilt forge, grinding shed and see it all as it was when it was a working unit, fascinating. If you are an engineer you will really relate to the exhibits, if you aren't you will still find it interesting especially the workers cottages, smart little visitors centre, parking and helpful guide. If you have a couple of hours to spend I would definitely recommend a visit.
