We attended a wedding, food was fantastic and attention to detail was excellent, one of the best receptions we have attended. Also stayed overnight very comfortable bed and breakfast was good. Room was very well decorated with all your needs met, ironing board, hairdryer, toiletries, tea coffee. All in all a very good stay.

Stay on a regular basis for work, had to write a review this time as the best stay yet.
Room nice and quiet, good wifi and comfortable bed.
The meal in the restaurant was outstanding, confit belly pork, just excellent.
Already booked next stay

We chose this hotel for a 3 night stay on the basis of the Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. The deluxe room was clean, spacious and the bed was comfortable. All of the staff were friendly, competent and helpful. The full english breakfasts were well presented and high quality and the food in the brasserie was very enjoyable and reasonably priced. Next time we go to this area the Staindrop Lodge will be our first choice.

Just returned from a weekend stay - family of 2 adults, 7 year old and 3 year old. Those who travel with kids will know how difficult it can be squeezing 4 people into a room, let alone any luggage. After a very smooth check in, I was amazed when I opened the door to Room 25 - it was gigantic. 2 huge beds, sofa, table and all the usual furniture. Wardrobe and huge bathroom set back around the corner. I would estimate you could fit 3 regular hotel rooms into the space. Just brilliant when you have young kids. We ate in the bar on one evening. Superb bar food for a very reasonable price, and a great selection of drinks. The breakfasts were outstanding - better than I have had in "posh" hotels. Nothing was a problem, the staff were so helpful and great with the kids. We will most definitely be heading back here in the future - the kids were very sad to leave! Thank you for a lovely stay Staindrop.

Room Tip: Room 25 if you have kids!

My partner and I eat in either the bar or restaurant about once a month. In truth, the menu and prices are the same in both, but the bar can get quite busy on weekend evenings and the restaurant can be quiet midweek. So we have a quick look and decide which we fancy! The specials menu is always different and there's usually something new to try. The fish is highly recommended (sea bass on a bed of risotto, pan fried sea bream with chorizo new potatoes were particular highlights) as is the meat. The Wortley lamb cutlets are always on the menu, but try the "pork 3 ways" if it's available. Add to this well-trained, attentive staff, pleasant decor and reasonable prices. It's not Michelin-starred stuff but a very strong 4 out of 5.
