APPALLING EXPERIENCE! Avoid this place like the plague! Hot food came out cold, cold food came out hot. Sides came out half an hour after the main. They tried to charge us for sides we didn't order and when we pointed out this and the poor service all we got in response was aggressive staff. The whole experience left the birthday girl in tears. Just don't go here!

Came in for Sunday lunch a bit late, and it was the only place that wasn't sold out with my partner. Bar staff and waiters were lovely and attentive. Had a beer and wine and the cheap offer on the wine was nice ;).

But we ordered the brisket and chicken Sunday roast, which was advertised as having Spring greens, potato & squash purée, prune roast potatoes and gravy. Then we got served the meat we asked for, but with boiled cauliflower, boiled broccoli, boiled peas and roast potatoes that looked and tasted fried.

The meal itself was alright. The brisket was tender and tasty, gravy was a bit sour and the vegetables were a bit soft and a tad wet. The chicken looked and tasted like it had been sliced open to see if it was cooked and squashed in the frying pan, so it wasn't something you'd expect from a restaurant or somewhere where you'd be paying. I'll attach a photo which has the menu and what we actually got.

Was ok, would probably go earlier to somewhere nicer.

Thank Cameron J

The good:
The ambiance is romantic, relaxed and lovely with the restaurant on the top floor. It's a lovely place for gathering and occasions. The food is always well presented and looks delicious. We used a gourmet society card and got the food half price so the value was excellent.

The OK:
Service was fine. The waiting staff and waiting times for food was acceptable.

The bad:
We were still hungry after a starter, main course each and dessert. One of the mains was disgusting and inedible. It was pasta drenched in sour vinegar and put us right off the food.

I love this place. Great drinks, good vibe, nice cocktails, outside seating, etc. Staff are great too.

Only two gripes are that its slow to get served in happy hour, and they don't have one single strong lager - there's a couple of mediocre lagers that honestly doesn't hit the spot. I love to start with a peroni or similar then move on to "better" drinks. For a decent cocktail bar they need one well known premium lager in my view.

The food was tasty, and the service good. The price was very good, because we had a Taste card which took a significant amount off the final price (well done to the restaurant for signing up to the scheme) other wise it would have seemed a little on the steep side for some things.
I would definitely go back, but the restaurant area was much noisier to eat in than the downstairs bar. A large party that came in part way through our meal made the room very noisy and difficult to talk to the friends we went out with. Next time with hindsight I would eat downstairs. It would be worth the management thinking about where they placed large parties as the middle floor was still empty when we left and probably more appropriate for a big group.
Still all in all a nice place to eat.
