We stayed at the hotel for two nights for a nice break away before getting ready for Christmas. Hotel is ideally located and an easy walk into town, with its own car park so no need to worry about finding one locally and hauling luggage around town. We had a couple of issues whilst in the hotel, our first room had an odd drain aroma and hotel moved and kindly upgraded us which was great, second room the shower did not drain as it should and we had a mini flood but all sorted by reception.
Bar is reasonable priced, breakfast had a good choice and plenty of space so did not feel unsafe.
Would certainly stay here again if come to bath, highly recommended.

Room tip: Front rooms can be noisy

Great hotel, clean and comfortable. Nice décor and friendly and supportive staff. I would give the hotel a 5 if it wasn’t for the breakfast which is a real disappointment. Beautiful setting however the quality is that of a much cheaper b&b.

The only plus point was the central location, but if you think this is a quiet square then think on. One could hear the roar of passing traffic all day and night as the square is on the main route for both the A4 and the A36. In the room itself the mattress was old and uncomfortable - sloping downwards on both sides from a ridge in the middle, the pillows had black stains on them and the seats of the chairs still had hairs from the previous occupants! The shower had very little pressure, the rain shower element did not work and bathroom was freezing although there was a heated radiator. The breakfast selection was poor, all the cooked food was stone cold. Would not pay £20 for breakfast here again as there are many lovely cafes a short walk away. Would hesitate to stay here again.

As a couple we stayed for a one night B & B City Break at this Hotel.
Very helpful staff on arrival, a special mention to the Greek porter on reception.
Directed to our room which was on the third floor. Unfortunately the lift was out of order but my wife and I prefer to walk in any way.
Room was clean and tidy with modern furnishings. A large en-suite bathroom with plenty of showering items supplied.
Great breakfast in the morning with a large choice between full English & continental.
Bar and lounge area was excellent with a very relaxed atmosphere.
I would highly recommend the Francis Hotel for a stay, plus the fact that it’s situated within short walking distance of all attractions and historical buildings in Bath.

We were allocated room 216 on our arrival…a tiny room with the double bed against the wall which for 2 older adults one of which has mobility issues wasn’t ideal. So we asked to be moved explained the issues and were given room 8 which was ideal….Olivia was extremely helpful she helped with our luggage and took time to make sure the room was satisfactory….thank you Olivia.
