Just returned from a weekend stay at this lovely hotel. We stayed in a junior suite and the commanding views across the countryside were amazing. This was a treat to ourselves for our 40th wedding anniversary and the suite was beautiful. Huge bedroom seperate lounge and marble bathroom. The room was spotless and immaculately clean. Huge comfortable bed with crisp white linen. We travel widely normally to luxury hotels in Europe and this lovely old grand lady of an English Hotel was perfect for a weekend near home. The only reasons I did not offer a 5 star in this instance was that being vegetarian and being portrayed as a healthy menu hotel it was disappointing to see only one choice on the main evening menu, when I enquired the next morning if I could have something different made for our second evening I was told the menu was set. Sadly we would have preferred to have eaten at the hotel but that would have meant repeating exactly the same dinner. Such a shame. Also people sitting in shorts and trainers from the leisure club in the only bar! Never experienced that in any high end hotel we have stayed in that has a leisure facility. Appreciate that the hotel wishes to accommodate their leisure customers but maybe a better code of dress applied would make it more acceptable. Overall we enjoyed our stay and thankyou to the pleasant staff

Dear Jenny B

Thank you so much for your lovely review, we are delighted to have hosted you for your very special anniversary.

We do understand your feedback on our menu. We are just completing some improvements to our kitchen, once these are finished we will offer more special dishes so that guests have more variety of choice. We will note your comment about dress code too, although we are quite happy to be inclusive to all in our public areas.

We do hope to see you here again.

Very best wishes,
Combe Grove

Fantastic views and lovely rooms. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in the UK. Perfect eggs, really tasty bacon and nicely cooked spinach.
The staff were excellent. Very friendly and efficient. Would certainly recommend this hotel.

The house is classical. The prospects commanding. The young staff are helpful and understand their tasks. Having a gym across from the restaurant adds to the options! There are lots of different sorts of rooms and corners for lots of different purposes, all decorated in bright modern (but still classical) designs. Its not just a hotel either. Combe Grove has a brilliant history and is currently owned by a Foundation that offers apprenticeships and training to young people in everything from estate management to horticulture and food. You eat the estate's produce. So, a model enterprise with no stinting on quality.

Once we found the entrance, more signs please, we were pleasantly surprised to see the extent of the gardens and woods.
Received well but were not told we were outside, until, we were taken out, this was a bit of a surprise. Rooms was good but could have done with a painting or two. By the way it was dark between hotel and annexe.

The menu was very interesting and very good. We just needed a few more other diners as we were alone for an hour. Archtitecturevand design very interesting. Lots of sport facilities if you cared.

All in all a great weekend and a very pleasant stay, thank you.
Would have helped to have a more evident gluten free menu, I was somewhat restricted.

Breakfast was good and plentiful.
