Owner description: The Little Theatre Cinema was built by community theatre pioneer Consuelo de Reyes and her husband in 1935. It initially functioned as a news theatre open from midday and showing hourly programmes of documentaries and newsreels. Feature films were first shown in 1939, the first two being "Peg of Old Drury" starring Anna Neagle followed by "Oh Mr Porter" starring Will Hay. The cinema thrived on local support throughout the years as other Bath cinema venues closed and in 1979 the former scenery store and lounge area were converted into a second screen. In spite of many refurbishments to keep the cinema up-to-date with digital sound and the latest projection technology, and a renewal of the seats to give the very best comfort levels, The Little Theatre has retained the charm and welcoming warmth of a 1930's cinema, including a luxury balcony with sofas in the main auditorium.

I had no plans to see this film but seeing this fabulous little place forced my hand! This kind of place is just my thing; independent, quirky and dated. Lovely snacks and drinks. Just a fun place you should be supporting

My son recently got married at this venue and it could not have been a better organised or enjoyable event. Everything seemed to be well organised, the staff were wonderful with nothing too much trouble and the whole event was an enjoyable experience. It was something different and something to treasure. The staff should be proud of themselves.

The Little Theatre is a couple of minutes walk from the Roman Baths and is a quirky independent cinema showing both latest blockbusters and a selection of independent and arthouse films.

The cinema has 2 screens off it's small foyer and the seats are comfy, though the screen was much smaller than you would find in a typical multiplex and it is worth bearing this in mind when you're picking your seats.

You can book online or pay on the door, and you don't pre-book specific seats, so it's worth getting there a little early if there's a group of you.

The 1930s design gives the cinema character, which alongside the film choices makes for an enjoyable experience.

Does what it claims. A cute little theatre showing non-mainstream movies. Friendly and welcoming, the staff are as charming as the venue - it's like going around a friends house for drinks and a movie.

Living in Bath through the week I go at least and often three times a week. They show the best arts films around and tend to avoid most mainstream things.

Great building and nice staff who love film. If you are in Bath and like a good film, make sure that you drop in.

Thank you Little Cinema and team for being there
