Wow! We have just returned from two fabulous nights at Beryl. I can't recommend it highly enough. The owners and staff are so lovely and so eager for the residents to enjoy the house. The Gothic property has been refurnished with love and care, and the attention to detail is everywhere. Our room was quaint, with all the modern facilities that we needed. What made the stay special was the amazing breakfasts, the roaring fires, the endless tea and cake on offer all afternoon (I can still taste the delicious banana cake). We will definitely go back.

We stayed here after Christmas, sadly just for one night but what a lovely place to stay. A crackling fire in the grate and beautiful decor, all in keeping with the Victorian Gothic style of the house greeted us on arrival. Complimentary cake and tea awaited us in one of the cosy and authentically furnished drawing rooms. Our room was in fact one double and a twin bedded room with a shared bathroom... ideal for two couples or a family with teenagers. Nicely furnished and cosy with the usual facilities. The antique furnishings are delightful and add so much charm and character to Beryl. Breakfast was well cooked and ample and although no evening meals are served we found a good range of eateries in Wells, we ate at Antons which was very good indeed.
We would highly recommend Beryl for a delightful stay in a very charming place. Last but not least all the staff were friendly, helpful and proud of Beryl!

We thoroughly enjoyed three nights here in December, 2016. The house feels like it is out in the country, but in fact is an easy walk from the cathedral. It is an ideal base for exploring this beautiful part of England.

We found the whole house to be spotless but not sterile - it feels lived in and well-maintained. We felt very welcome. The unofficial host, a moggie called Willow joined us several times in one parlor or another for lap time and petting.

The breakfasts were generous and delicious. We were generally not hungry after breakfast until at least mid-afternoon. I enjoyed both the full English breakfast (with black pudding) and a wonderful eggs Benedict, which was the daily special one morning.

In the afternoon, tea and cake are put out for the guests. We were unable to take advantage of this on tow days of our stay because we were off doing touristy things. The cake we did have was delicious.

Our room was very nice with excellent mattress and bedding. Being two flight of stair up (call it second or third floor as you like) the room was very toasty and we kept the window vents open for comfort. It may or may not vary from room to room, but the water pressure in our shower was fantastic (much better than the average hotel or B&B in the UK). The only change I would make to our room would be addition of an exhaust fan in the bathroom.

Wifi was fast and reliable.

The floorboards did squeak enough that the comings and goings of other guests were always apparent.

A clothes washer and dryer are available for guest use, but do note that the dryer can take hours, and is not welcome after 7:00pm, so good planning is essential.

This has to be one of the best B & B establishments. Firstly, you have a beautiful Gothic Victorian Country House which has been loving maintained and kept very much in keeping with it's Victorian past, but with all the modern conveniences. The hosts are charming and provide a friendly, professional and relaxing approach, which enables you to fully enjoy your very comfortable surroundings - even the family cat has excellent social skills and comes to visit most guests in one of the well appointed sitting rooms. The breakfast is delicious with a vast range of fresh fruit, continental or full English offerings. Whilst on the subject of culinary delights - lunch or afternoon tea at a little cafe called TwentyOne in the marketplace is well worth a visit, with super food and charming staff.
So to concluded about Beryl B & B, I can not recommend this lovely haven of peace and tranquility highly enough.

Only stayed one night but was suitably impressed with the warm welcome, the homely feel, and the character and attention to detail of this beautiful gothic house. Stayed in the Master bedroom which was huge and well furnished. Breakfast (full english and buffet) was also good. Willow and Oscar (the friendly house cat and dog) made their aquaintances with us. A refreshingly authentic stay!
