Curlew Cottage is set in a square of holiday let’s, a converted barn with beams and lots of character, but modern with everything you will need. The property is well-maintained inside and out with secure parking behind an electronic gate. If you want a place where there is peace and quiet, with a chance to relax this is the place. Also, if you like nature you have Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s Lackford Lakes Reserve a couple of hundred yards away. I went on early morning walks around the Reserve, seeing Kingfishers, Green Woodpeckers and Muntjac Deer on a regular basis.
The Cottage is also a good base whether you are visiting Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Ely, Sandringham or the coast, especially RSPB Minsmere.
The code for the gate is given before arrival and the keys easily accessed with the owners leaving you alone but available if needed, living just across from the entrance.
This is a place to be enjoyed for all that it offers and I would certainly recommend it
Cottage had everything we needed and was a perfect base for recharging our batteries between visits further afield. As the nature reserve surrounded the property, it was great to be able to check in with the varied wildlife at different times of the day plus enjoy the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets over the lakes. We were lucky to have good weather all week, so enjoyed having a garden area available to relax with a cuppa, but on chilly evenings it was very cosy indoors with plenty of games to keep us occupied. WiFi is available but could often only connect to router not internet so just have to remember to do any research re planned attractions whilst you're out. Given the overall eco friendly ethos, we were surprised that there weren't any recycling facilities other than for glass. However, this could be due to differences in local collection services and/or challenge of not contaminating materials in a communal setting. Overall, a great week and we hope to return in the future.
