After arriving late due to the horrendous traffic , we were greeted by the hosts. We were shown the swimming pool and the cottage . We were both starving so decided to go to the White Hart in Tuddenham , what a gem of a pub, the hosts were brilliant the food exceptional and the beer just as good . We visited both bury St Edmunds and Lachford lakes on Saturday before returning for a lovely swim in the perfect pool . On Sunday a visit to great Yarmouth followed and do enjoy the lovely October sunshine , back to bunkers barn for a lovely swim before going out for a really fantastic meal at the packhorse inn . Monday was home time and we said our farewells to the hosts. Would we visit again most probably yes , would we recommend anything perhaps a mirror closer to the plugs for drying hair , and a better hair dryer . Also to ensure that the cleaning gets rid of the cobwebs in the kitchen .
My wife and I were quite taken with the accommodation in every respect. On arrival we were amazed with the peace and beauty of the surrounding countryside. The accommodation is first class, modern and spotless. We were greeted very pleasantly by Tonya and shown around the property including the pool barn. We had an extensive welcome pack in the fridge, too. The bed was very comfortable and the furniture in the kitchen and lounge room very good indeed. There was a large TV in the lounge room (with two full sized lounge chairs) and a smaller one in the kitchen. Overall there was nothing we could possibly improve - Thanks Tonya and Pierre
Sadly we cut short our stay at Bunkers barn mainly due to the very hot weather , the cottage is okay however it only has windows at the front so you could not get a good airflow through which made sleeping impossible . There was one fan. The filtered water tap for drinking was almost hot enough to brew tea straight from the tap . Returning to the cottage after a few hours in Bury st Edmunds was really uncomfortable . We couldn't sit outside even as there was no shade , there was a table and chairs but no parasol . Thankfully we cooled off by having a swim in the lovely pool , however once again an hour later and we didn't know where to relax . We were so tired after the second night of no sleep . We decided to go home. I fully appreciate that we were in the middle of a heatwave in the hottest part of the country but feel that the ownwers should have prepared for this .
What a fabulous place!...peace & tranquility.
This is a lovely, super clean bungalow with stunning views, comfortable bed & lovely smelling bedding!
And the pool!...well that’s something else we really enjoyed our swim admiring stunning scenery at the same time..supplied are plenty of fresh towels & a shower room with toilet, great facilities after a swim.
The owners Tonya & Pierre are really lovely people & made us feel welcome & at home.
It was a pleasure to stay at Bunkers cottage & I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to my friends & family.
Tonya even put goodies in the fridge for us including duck eggs from their own ducks!
All in all a beautiful place & if I was back visiting the area I would definitely be booking again.
Thank you so much Tonya & Pierre...take care & hopefully see you again.
Had 4 nights at Bunkers Barn Cottage and absolutely loved it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and just let the world go by without them. No shops nearby so need to take supplies. A car is essential as its approximately 6 miles to Bury St. Edmunds the nearest town (and shops). I have already booked my next stay and would recommend it to anyone who loves the countryside.
