I very rarely feel the need to write a poor review but this visit has made me. After over 45 mins for our food to be delivered we got 2 of the smallest and blandest wraps we have ever had. This pub has a great selecction of beer but when it comes to food it needs to improve a lot. Thankfully a quick word to the manager who apologised and refunded our meals was appreciated but wasting an hour on a sunday afternoon was not great. Shame as we pop in now and again here and the tynemouth one.

Thank Neil M

If you want local beer from camerons brewery is this ideal and the choice of European beers is excellent especially the French and Belgium ones .

A bar of 2 halves. Left side is traditional bar and right side seems a big open room. Although it was a Saturday night was not very busy, unlike the Broad Chare, which as always was jumping. There is a great beer selection, both on draught and bottled and from many different origins.
And given it wasn't too busy no problem to find a comfortable table and chairs.
Good location for a drink and a chat

We had quite a lot of people coming to a joint 30th birthday party, including someone in a wheelchair. Head of Steam gave us our own reserved area, with wheelchair access. They were so helpful. We decorated the area with streamers balloons photos etc.
They let us bring our own music player, and looked after us for the whole evening. Nothing was too much trouble for them. First class.
