First time here, 25 years ago I lived in the flats opposite.
The setting and service were great, and on the Saturday evening the atmosphere was spot on.
All the courses were excellent, starters were the black pudding and Fantastic brown sauce and a lovely beef tartare. Our mains didn’t let us down which was venison and the pork both perfectly cooked.
The only reason it’s not a five star rating was that the bread was slightly undercooked - although unlike many restaurants it was not limited and the basket was continually filled. Also, we were encouraged to have a side of roast parsnips and carrots which actually weren’t required and were in our opinion over cooked.
However, neither of these ‘issues’ spoilt our night at all, and we will definitely return.
