Great hotel, easy to get to from, as it turns out, four points of the compass (well, three actually). Three hours from Durham, Devon and Essex. Met a group of friends for a weekend. The rooms were great if, like many modern hotels, way, way too hot to start with. Nothing that turning down the radiator and opening the window couldn't sort.
The hotel is pretty standard, but the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and the place had a very relaxed air to it. It's family friendly, including the spa/pool area, and also dog-friendly, which was handy since we were there during Crufts weekend. It was very busy, including a uni ball on Saturday night, but you would never have known that outside the public areas. The restaurant was OK, if a little dull, but we found that there were many much better and cheaper places to eat dinner in Warwick and Leamington Spa. The breakfast was brilliant and included a great range of healthy cereal alternatives - it's not every day you see chia seeds and goji berries in a hotel dining room - and the timing was good, so we didn't have to get up too early.
The hotel is set in lovely grounds right on the River Avon and there are beautiful woodland and country walks just outside the door. We had a great weekend there and would definitely visit again.More
