Spent weekend for our 1st wedding anniversary. Stayed in a junior suite which had 'interesting' decor and furniture. Very comfortable bed with no evidence of being two singles fixed together - topper did a great job. Few small hiccups in refurbed bathroom which they will address, like bath chain too short so when you moved the plug got pulled out .

Big noisy party in restaurant on Friday night so ate in the bar. Food was really good and a reasonable price. Didn't cater well for gluten free though - could only offer bread and not rolls and desserts weren't very exciting - 'we can take the xyz off'.

Would certainly go back.

This was the worst room I have ever stayed in. The room smelt stale, there was a lot of mould in the bathroom, the toilet wouldn't flush (we had to fill the rubbish bin up with water to flush it) it was very hot and it was nothing like the photo on the website. When we went to complain we were treated with disdain and contempt from the reception staff who spoke very poor English and were told the hotel was full. But the worst was yet to come when we arrived home to find our credit card had been charged much more than the booking.com confirmed price. Emails to the General Manager met with no response until we contacted Best Western Head Office, then he only responded that the rooms were going to be refurbished next year! After six weeks and many more emails and threats he finally agreed to refund the overcharged amount

Room Tip: Go to any other hotel in the town, but don't stay here under any circumstances

Stayed here 2 nights, 28-29th Oct. Room very tired condition ( my wife complained). After second night, I found myself covered in itchy bites all over top half of body. Thought it was a mosquito so we checked out. Later in day realised I had 23 bites that were definitely not mosquito.Phoned hotel and was asked why I hadn’t reported them before checking out and maybe it was an allergy! That was the last communication I have had with the Grosvenor Htel. Best Western, the umbrella company, although sympathetic, told me that the hotel could find no sign of infestation. Our booking company, TravelZoo was excellent and refunded our money promptly. A week later, bites were inflamed and hard. Was put on a course of strong antibiotics. Finally they are beginning to die down. Draw your own conclusions!
PS Nice breakfast, though.
