A very modern looking reception area that puts you immediately in the frame of mind you've hit gold, however this does not extend to the room which was tired. All clean and warm but little things just knocked down the rating - no lock on the bathroom door, spoons in tea set were stuck together and unwashed, sounds of cistern or running water went on all night - looking at the photo of the room used on tripadvisor suggests alot higher standard was available to what we had.
This overnight stay was all about a two day tourist smash and grab to experience some history and culture with my 10 year old. We picked up a night here with breakfast online for just £83 which is very competitive for the area and the location was perfect. Everything you want is within walking distance (sheep street for food, drink and tourist attractions, cross just 2 roads to get to the theater, 10 minutes walk for Shakespeare's pad, magic alley, MAD museum and the same distance in the other direction for the butterfly farm... please read my reviews on all).
Only things you need to consider:
* Do pay for the breakfast and plan ahead - being a get up and go family this was never in question but having got up and gone, Stratford simply doesn't open until 10am. A tasty full English and yogurt we were on the streets by 9am to find everything was shut. Except "the works". My advice is simple, have breakfast in the hotel and take your time eating it. Don't bother leaving until 9:45am!
* Parking your car is £3 - annoys me when hotels do this but they were happy for it to be a full 24 hours and we didn't collect our car until many hours after we checked out. And reading other reviews, guessing £3 is alot better than having to park down the road.
* As always, grab the leaflets in reception. The vouchers inside (and some simple web surfing) saved us a fortune at the tourist places.

Stayed here to go to the theatre as part of a birthday treat for my husband. Had a thoroughly enjoyable meal in town and a great night watching Twelfth Night at the theatre. On returning to the hotel we decided to have a drink before bed. Yes I know hotel prices are a little higher than pub prices but honestly £3 for a small cranberry and soda. Surely this is a ridiculous amount to pay?Even my husband ‘s half pint of lager was cheaper. Be warned folks. We won’t be having any more drinks here.

Stayed with my friend on Friday Night
Room was lovely and clean, decor good
Eat in the restaurant, food lovely
Staff all friendly
Breakfast good
Only downside was the car park was full so had to park in a car park down the road
Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel seems to have had several extensions with myriad corridors to the bedrooms.. Booked two rooms for one night, a twin (164) & a double (178 (5ft bed)). Both rooms clean and met expectations. The bathroom in the double room was small and the extractor fan didn't work and looked to have been turned off at the isolator switch set in the ceiling. Made for a very steamy room. The twin bathroom was much bigger with fittings to help the disabled. Sleep in the double room was very difficult with the banging of a door somewhere at approximately 10 minute intervals. Rang reception at 1 a.m. and the banging was stopped straight away only to return a few hours later but at least with longer intervals between bangs. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially in the bar where the two men were really good and Bran....? was particularly helpful. ( My apologies to him for not properly noting his name.) If we stay there again we would take ear plugs!

As a party of four we had stayed at the Grosvenor on a previous occaision and enjoyed our stay. As this trip was a special 60th birthday treat for one member of our party together with seats at the RSC to see Twelfth Night we were looking forward to returning to the hotel. However, this time despite booking one double and one twin room through Booking.com we were allocated two double rooms - the hotel was not able to switch one double for one twin room. We were allocated rooms on the first floor; there is no lift and the stairs are narrow and fairly steep. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the restaurant. The hotel is ideally located for the RSC.

The room numbering on the first floor seems odd - somewhat back to front with for example room 280 nearer to reception than 270. There is also a charge of £3 per dqay for residents using the hotel car park - I have not come across a hotel that has a separate charge for parking any where else.
