Just got back from our 2 night stay in the romeo wow wow wow loved it what an amazing place so pretty and relaxing. The staff did an amazing job at making it extra special we walked in to flowers, wine, chocolates, cake and candles oh and petals on bed. The hot tub was AMAZING day or night. Location is very central to many lovely villages and more main towns. Was so sad to be coming home and will be going back as soon as we can. Very good company to deal with friendly, stick to their word and nothing seemed to much trouble. 100 out of 10 from us one very happy Mr and Mrs reader.

This is very very far from being “Luxury 5 Star Accommodation” - I am an experienced user of "country cottage" accommodation; however, this is the first time of booking direct with a small company rather than using one of the big websites.

Romeo Cottage: Ripped sofa, cheap’n’nasty furniture (I note the ripped sofa was reported on here back in April and it’s still there), everything a little bit Argos.

“Brand new fitted white bathroom” - Well, I suppose it was new once - it featured missing handle on the shower cubicle and wobbly taps on the sink, towel holder broken, the whole bathroom in need of a bit of a deep clean round the joins and a refurb to be honest.

“Brand new modern fitted kitchen” featured broken bits of formica trim and patches of badly repaired plaster and paint (I’ve got lovely pictures). And the noisiest fridge in the world with internal shelves missing.

The accommodation throughout is way more cramped than it appears from website photos, but that’s pretty standard I guess.

It's my fault for not noticing that it wasn't listed on the website I suppose, but no DVD player in this day and age in a “family holiday” “5-star” self-caterer? Really!?

“Free unlimited Wi-Fi provided”. This was genuinely one of the reasons we booked here, it says quite clearly on the website that it has free wifi available. IT DIDN’T WORK ONCE in the week we were there! I was told by the manager on the first evening that it needed “resetting” as it “comes in on satellite”. Great story, but really not the customer’s problem.

PLUS POINTS: the location and surrounding countryside is fantastic - the beds and supplied linen are excellent - the hot tub was great, there were very handy supermarkets locally for supplies and, er, that’s about it.

Now the real problem (and possibly the explanation for this property being a bit run down). The properties in the complex are being sold as two completely separate things - as a quiet country “shakespeare” family retreat as reflected on the website I booked from:
http://www.shakespeareholidaycottages.co.uk

and at the same time as a hen party destination, as featured here:
http://www.henpartyholidays.co.uk

Bear in mind that the properties are grouped around quite a small courtyard, and imagine my surprise on arrival to see a gathering hen party take over the entire block opposite, set up an outdoor sound system and begin their party accompanied by hen party music. The sound system was taken indoors at around quarter to midnight, but the music and shouting continued much longer. People were actually driving in from outside for the party and then left early the next morning. This is in no way a criticism of the hen party, they have been sold a location suitable for their noisy party.

I saw it differently and felt let down and very upset as I wanted to go to bed quietly. I called the manager who told me that the hen party advertising was a diversification of their business, and that she had no control over who books or what they do once there. She did say that she would try to contact the group and tell them to be quiet. I wished her good luck with that.

The next day this group left and another arrived in a different cottage, there was loads of noise in the hot tub but no music so much more acceptable - they in turn left the next day and the cottage suddenly transformed into lovely quiet 3-star accommodation.

However on our last evening there (Friday) all it began again. A large group (I counted 14) arrived and by 5pm were drinking and shouting in the hot tub, flaunting an obscene “inflatable man” and having a right old laugh, again with a horrifically cheap and tinny sound system blasting crappy 80s hits out of the opened windows of the cottages.

Just couldn’t be bothered any more, so we left early and drove home that evening.

We had a great holiday, thanks to visits to National Trust, RSC, Stratford and Worcester.

Room Tip: Avoid, unless you're part of a hen party.

Went with two friends and their three year old. We have a 9 month old baby. It's a lovely place but it felt too small, would be very tight for six adults and the sofa bed didn't look comfy. there is zero privacy as even the bed in the mezzanine floor is open so you can hear everything anyone says up there. Be great for a family of four or a couple but no more than that. It was riddled with crane spiders and the outside pain work is all coming away. Does need some tlc. The garden and hot tub are great. You are a short drive away from the shops which is nice. The pictures are deceiving as you think you are in a cottage on ur own in the middle of no where but your not, it's a big house then 4 cottages next to that and then In front of them, literally yards is Romeo cottage. The first two nights there was a hen party in the four cottages facing our little one and if they where outside you could hear everything. Some reviews stated they got a welcome pack, we didn't. Wifi didn't work.

VERY DISAPPOINTED! Booked this for mums 70th. 9 of us went & saw the lodge on the site advertised as a 'Lodge' ( singular!) sleeps up to 12, 7 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms - great for all the family we thought.. How wrong we were! Arrived on Monday 26th may -4 nights to discover 3 lodges & not integrated at all. 3 seperate front doors. Charlotte stated ' I keep telling her she needs to tell people it's not 1 lodge but 3!!'
She showed us round the lodges however never showed us where the tumble dryer was & how to get in!!
We attempted to contact Antonia & left 3 messages - she never came back to us & only after a very stern email did she reply, but only by email, she didn't even have the decency to call us as we had other matters to discuss I.e. Wi-fi RUBBISH - hit & miss..very basic inside. Cracked mirror, light hanging off in 1 of bathrooms, broken settee. The hot tub was dirty & had scum floating on the top. We saw Charlotte on Thursday & asked how to get into use the tumble dryer & she said the key was in a pot at the door as though we should know - She had NEVER shown us. We also mentioned scum in hot tub & she did put chemicals in to clean it, this should be cleaned EVERY DAY! Overall we felt it WASNT money well spent - only good thing to say is the beds were comfortable! Not a 5* property by any means...
