Went on an early Sunday afternoon to find the place full but staff still smiling and friendly, only waited 5 minutes for a table. as first timers here, a very polite waitress explained the menu and ordering system suggesting alternative options for a vegan in our party. We were amazed by the size of the offerings, I had Lamh Bi'ajeen flatbread platter with fattuush, pickels and M'tabal and was surprised by the variety of flavours, went down well!! Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals and it was just the right amount and not overwhelming. Took home our dessert from the extensive range (including vegan options). Well done, hope to be back soon.

The food, drinks, atmosphere and service were all top notch. This is now definitely my favorite middle eastern restaurant in Europe.

Visited Damascena with a friend, on the recommendation of some Brummie friends (I don't know Birmingham at all). What a great find! It's lavishly decorated, with a lovely atmosphere and sense of cosiness. There's a bakery counter at the front, with baklava and other sweet treats on display, and then you walk through into the main seating area to find yourself a table before placing an order.
We were fairly hungry, but the prices were so reasonable that we weren't sure how much to order (especially being a Londoner, you don't expect much food from a dish costing £3.95!) So we ordered two platters, the flatbread one and the mixed mezze, which were £15 between them. When they arrived we were very happy - there was a lot of food! Special favourites were the falafel, baba ganoush and cheesy flatbread, all totally delicious. Not such a fan of the pickles, but each to their own.
Would have loved to stay longer and try some sweets and the great selection of tea, but didn't have time. Will be back!

It was my first visit here after a trend had recommended it from visiting the Moseley branch.
It's a beautifully decorated cafe. You could almost forget you're in Birmingham, UK when you go through those doors especially in the seating area towards the back. The decor is amazing from the huge hanging chandelier to the authentic patterns in the lighting, and dividers.
It's got a very warm cost feel to it with subtle lighting.
The appetisers were spot on. Very authentic and delicious. The selection of drinks they have to offer is huge. So many kinds of tea!
I'd visit again when I'm in the area for sure.

My husband and I saw this Syrian restaurant the day before and decided it would be perfect for a late breakfast the following day. We both had a hot breakfast meze which we both enjoyed. They provide gluten-free flatbread which was great for me. The Mediterranean/Middle Eastern eaterie is nicely decorated in an Arabic style, has comfortable seating - great place to hang out in the evening, and we received good service.
