Visited here on Thursday evening with a friend before a show at Town Hall. My immediate impression is that i liked it much more than i ever did Nosh n Quaff. It's not a major difference in decor - it's just better to have bar downstairs and restaurant up stairs.

We were greeted warmly by the waiting staff. Service throughout was attentive and pleasant if a little slow. The waitress did explain she was in training which is fine so we explained we needed to be at the show which started at 7.30pm and for this reason, we ordered main courses only. Having placed order at 6.40pm, the food took over 30 minutes to come out which meant we had to rush it a bit which was a pity.

Food - good choice of mains. we didn't look at the rest of the menu. i had the creole sea bass (excellent) and friend had chicken (very good).

Drinks - wine list s good but some of the options seemed pretty expensive. Wines by the glass were limited and limited even further by the Muscadet being unavailable.. This meant we had to choose another option so drinks didn't arrive until half way through the main course.

Over all - this is a massive improvement on its predecessor. if they iron out the service issues, it will be a great addition to the Birmingham dining scene. i will definitely return.

We had drinks and dinner here on a Friday night, it wasn't that busy but the service was just slow (waiting for drinks, waiting to order etc). The most disappointing thing about it though was that it is marketed as a New York Steak & Seafood place but there is nothing American or New York about this place at all. The food was nice but nothing special, I had chicken, my friend had the steak sandwich and two others had fish. The crab starter was a little overpriced but the cheese & bread was delicious.

I have visited the US many times including New York and love those type of restaurants but this one just doesn't have that feel at all, for example, we were looking forward to having a couple of desserts to share between us, we were expecting some American classics .. New York Cheesecake, Apple Pie, a Sundae, Key Lime Pie, Pecan Pie .. but there was nothing even remotely American so sadly we skipped dessert. We did feed this back to the waitress and her response was that as the main menu was quite heavy they tried to have lighter desserts, I understand that logic but if you're marketing yourself as a NY Steak & Seafood restaurant then you're missing a trick not to have a NY Cheesecake at the very least!! Our waitress did say she was new so she had to ask the manager a couple of things when we asked her questions, that's absolutely fine as I understand you can't learn everything overnight but forgetting things like bringing black pepper (more than once) when asked is nothing you need to learn :(
This place just seems like it needs some tweaks and it could be lovely, service, desserts .. etc. Also .. the wifi still says Nosh & Quaff .. little things like that.

This was our first visit to this place. The decor us lovely and it's a nice relaxed atmosphere the staff were very friendly and welcoming . We sat upstairs and had a lovely view over the council house. The starters were lovely. We had ham hick and scallops . The mains were disappointing. I had clam spaghetti and I can say it was tasteless. There was a pool of what looked like dirty dishwater left in the bottom of my dish. Very unappetising. The flat iron steak was fine but the chips were the fattest chips I've ever seen.
Sadly I wouldn't return again for food but would go back for a drink.

the service was not good, the food was awful. we had the surf & turf for 2, it was cold, the steak you couldn't cut, we were then given a free dessert. Very disappointing considering it was rather expensive. Definitely will never go back.

Popped in before going elsewhere to eat. Had a drink in the downstairs bar. Didn't visit the upstairs restaurant so can't comment on the food. Lovely old building, well restored and fitted out. Good selection of gins and keg beer, but no ales on show. Service was excellent, friendly staff.
