While a new breakfast area was still in the process of being built, it appears I arrived at the hotel after their rooms had been refurbished and given a modern upgrade. I've noticed a few older reviews saying the rooms felt shabby and dated, but after my experience at HIE Leeds Armouries it couldn't be any further from the truth. Upon arrival we were greeted by a really friendly receptionist (Tony) who checked us in with all the info we needed. Our room was spacious, modern and it really felt like a step up from any previous HIE we've stayed in.

Honestly, this was probably the best Holiday Inn Express I've been to over the years. It was super clean, air conditioned, and the modern additions such as the smart TV and smartphone that also serves as a tour guide (check it out for yourself), felt like really welcome improvements. The hotel is within walking distance from the city centre and the nearby area is beautiful. The Royal Armouries museum is close by, walking down the canal and past the street food vendors at Leeds Dock made for a really lovely relaxed atmosphere in the sun.

Most of all, we had a really good nights sleep. After my head hit the pillow I didn't hear a single noise all night. The breakfast is your usual standard hotel budget selection though, but it was always kept well stocked by staff. All in all i'd definitely stay at HIE Leeds Armouries again, in fact I'll be looking out for this place when I next plan on visiting Leeds later on in the year. Very happy!

Very clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was a scramble , not much variety and not enough seating.
They are upgrading the breakfast area so that should help.
Staff friendly and helpful.
It was very convenient for what we needed, right by The Museum and canal. Lovely walk along the waterfront.
We used the little water taxi which was a very different way of getting to the hotel and it is free.

Excellent city centre location with car park next door. It is
In a multi storey and you do need to pay but you get a discount if you get your ticket stamped at reception

Rooms very modern very clean everything in them

Staff very helpful

Overall great hotel in great location

Only downside was breakfast, had to wait for table food wasnt topped up when dishes were empty.
Very busy indeed due to lack of tables and food

Booked 10 people in for our son’s wedding held locally.
After a little confusion with the booking initially we were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff. Overall all the staff were well informed and incredibly helpful with our requests for taxis.
Breakfast was all self service but adequate and the room was clean and well appointed having a sofa and movable table.
Our only complaint was that the bed was a little hard. This may have been due to a recent refurbishment of many rooms.
This is an inexpensive hotel, ideal for a city break. It’s within easy walking distance of the main shopping areas of the City Centre.
Amber taxis provided all our transport over the weekend and were reasonably priced always on time and with friendly and chatty drivers

We stayed here for my hen night which was connected too my murder mystery. Was a pain with checkin but that wasn’t the hotels fault that was the organisations fault who booked the hotel. The staff was lovely, very attentive, bedrooms was nice and the beds were comfy. The shower was lovely too. Bar was a little expensive but it’s what you can expect for a hotel bar, the breakfast in the morning was lovely and plenty of choice. Would recommend.
