We were going to pass through Salisbury so had a look at trip advisor for somewhere for lunch and The Avon Brewery looked interesting. How glad we were that we visited. The pub looks like a small classic old pub with dark wood & cosy seats to sit and relax. We arrived on a Friday lunch time and it was just us & the staff we wondered if that would mean the exciting menu we had read about would not be available. Most certainly not everything was available & cooked fresh to order. We decided to sit on the garden terrace next to the river with our dogs but were told they were welcome anywhere within the pub. The food was amazing phily cheese steak baguette bursting with flavour, the Francesinha is really a man verses food dish layers of meats with an amazing beer sauce certainly an experience. Staff were wonderful friendly & polite. This really is a hidden delight.

We always come to the Avon when we're in Salisbury, and the food never gets boring. The staff are so friendly and will go out of their way to make us happy. The variety of food is great, there is something for everyone and if there isn't just ask, they'll probably make it anyway! Lovely little place, definitely worth a visit!

Having a very large Portuguese family and having visited the country countless times, I was very excited to find this place whilst visiting a friend in Salisbury. The restaurant is in a small, family-run pub, but don't be fooled - there is a large Portuguese themed restaurant in the back as well as a beautiful garden over-looking the Avon river. The food was fantastically authentic and genuine. You could tell that it was cooked by someone who knows Portuguese cuisine. I had the Gambas a Casa - King Prawns in a creamy Piri Piri sauce. The prawns were perfectly cooked and I was blown away by the sauce - fantastic! Whilst there wasn't much choice on the menu for my vegetarian friend, the chef was perfectly willing to accommodate and personally gave us a list of things that they could do. In the end, my friend had a grilled vegetable Espetada (hanging skewer) which she said was divine. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. I'll definitely be coming back here the next time I visit Salisbury.

Authentic Portuguese cuisine. the service is great, and the staff friendly. was really blown away by the espetadas, and also the best Francesina (called the manwich) ever.
I can highly recommend the Avon Brewery for those that would like a taste of Portugal in England.

We searched for a restaurant with our Kids there, where we also could get glutenfree (glutenfrei) food. At this place we found a great Restaurant, with no tourists (except us) ... Great Portoguese food and a great competence regarding glutenfree food... Also the background music was really good! ;)
