Slightly outside Salisbury town centre, this is a very old pub/hotel situated on the Avon river. They have extended it to have some hotel rooms but we didn’t think they were really in keeping with the rest of the building. It was a nice warm sunny day and we sat out on the patio and had a nice lunch overlooking the river.

The food was well prepared and staff were efficient and friendly.

Wonderful views from restaurant and terrace. Menu rather limited. Service slow in spite of restaurant not being busy.

Hotel very kindly allowed us to park here all day. We had brunch around 10.45 which was very tasty and nice quality and pleasant apart from the fact they were moving the tables around us to set up for large parties arriving for lunch. Were offered a table outside which would have been lovely on a beautiful day but one table of four were smoking and it spoilt it, so we chose to sit inside. They did apologize for all the movement around us so we knew what to expect. We returned for a late lunch at 4pm (we were going to the Salisbury Theatre that evening) but we were so disappointed with a very small menu choice, no specials only what was there. I was so hot wanted a salad, only two on the menu. I ended up with Chicken Caeser which was tasty enough. My husband chose a chicken fruity curry (on a boiling day!) which he had to send back as the basmati rice was so sticky it was tasteless, they returned a brand new plate of food but once again the rice let it down, it smelt wonderful though. The desserts were lovely. I had Creme Brulee and husband had a tiramisu torte both of which were very very enjoyable. Once again all the tables were being re-arranged back to their positions after the big lunch crowd. Did not appreciate the hoovering going on around us though. Spoilt it all slightly. By the way we used our tastecard for this meal.

Booked Sunday lunch for a party of 10 adults. We met first for coffee on the lovely terrace overlooking the river Avon, a perfect location on a sunny day. The menu had something to suit everyone including a choice of Sunday roast, 4 vegetarian options, steak and several fish options. The young waitress was very helpful and all our meals and drinks were served very efficiently. The food was plentiful, tasty and enjoyed by all. After lunch we had tea on the terrace, where the waitress happily took some family photographs for us. All in all a very enjoyable afternoon. Large car park available, if on foot only 10 minutes walk from the Cathedral.

Lovely hotel with a lot of interesting history, view over the river and few minutes walk from the cathedral and town. Didn't eat in this hotel so cannot comment on food, judging from the menu and food we saw brought to the restaurant, it looked very good.
