This was Master Chef style cooking. Inventive, flavourful and beautifully presented. The options are a 7 course tasting menu at £69 or a 3 course Table d' Hote for £49. Both come with canapés and amuse bouche offerings. There is an extensive wine list including a decent selection of wines sold by the glass, carafe or bottle.

We visited the restaurant for my wife's birthday. We decided on the tasting menu with wine pairing, this was a great choice. It consisted of seven courses with a few extras thrown in, the food was imaginative and excellently prepared with a couple of surprises. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the explanation of the courses and wine came with every course.

A special shout to Leo and Jack in the potting shed bar they provided a beginning and ending of the evening with a warm and friendly service. If you don't try there cocktails you will be missing out especially Jack's business espresso martini.

The setting was lovely, the restaurant was lovely with floor to ceiling windows and a view of the garden.

We had the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing. This included fresh bread, salmon tartare, turbot curry, lamb, pork, asparagus and onion tart which was on the veggie menu. For dessert rhubarb panna cotta and a rich chocolate mouse. There was a variety of wine, English sparking wine and cider. We were asked if we wanted to select the wine but we wanted to go with the restaurant pairing which was a great choice.

Our waiter jack was very enthusiastic and knowledgable about the wine and dishes we were eating. The service was relaxed and we didn't feel rushed to leave at the end of the dinner.

We also had the afternoon tea in the garden room. You have the option to order warm dishes to start. We had the Welsh rarebit and sausage rolls.

The tea came with a selection of cucumber, salmon, Egg, ham sandwiches/wraps. There was also a bacon tart. The sweets included a cherry macaroon, chocolate mouse, betternberg and lemon meringue. You have two scones each with jam and cream.

There was a nice family atmosphere and
Children are welcome.

Visited The Garden Room as staying nearby and wanted a special evening.
Thought we were in for a bad night when we arrived as they could not find our reservation to start with. We were advised we could have pre dinner drinks in either lounge or on the terrace, which we opted for as a lovely evening.
Menus for the garden room and drink menus arrived, cocktails ordered and leisurely browse through the menu.
Decided on the 7 course tasting menu and the chef kindly agreed to change a couple of dishes to those on the a la carte menu as we had had the staple ingrediants the previous day. Wine pairing? Oh go on, would be rude not to!
Escorted to a nice table in the restaurant making the most of the garden views.
We were greeted by the somelier who talked us through how he liked his guests to enjoy the wines with each course and how he had changed a couple of selections due to the menu changes.
Superb food, every course was beautifully presented, wonderfully tasty and the wines complimented them brilliantly.
There was no rushing and the breaks between courses were not too long either, we didnt feel full that we had just eaten 7 courses but no way felt hungry either, perfect portions and perfect times.
If you are in the area a want a lovely evening The Garden Room is perfect.
Thank you for a lovely meal and excellent wines. We will certainly be returning.

Having been to Dormy House many many times since it's initial opening following their refurbishment, of which i was a huge fan. The last 2-3 visits to the Potting Shed were not great, definitely not to the standard that we'd previously experienced at Dormy which kept us returning with friends and family. Having complained about our last meal in The Potting Shed I was assured that my next visit would be top notch again and they'd redeem themselves. Fathers Day lunch booked in The Garden Room at 2.15. We arrived early but our table wasn't ready so that's no issue, but our table only became available at 2.40 again no huge issue no rush....

Our starters came, within 15 minutes after that all fine. Main courses arrived at 3.50! My 7 yr old sons dinner arrived 10-15 minutes after our main courses as they'd forgotten his.. no veg or gravy for again 10 minutes and because the main was at best warm we started eating, veg and gravy came my husband poured his on, only to find the gravy was stone cold. Again more waiting for new gravy, my sisters dinner, stone cold so again that's sent back along with my husbands main and my son..still hasn't received his dinner.
My mums steak was cold but she was too embarrassed to send back as we had so many dinners missing! Eventually our plates were cleared, my sons burger arrived along with my sisters dinner. After everyone else had finished. My dads chair leg snapped so he fell on the floor, was promised a drink to compensate which didn't even arrive.
I have to stress food at Dormy USED to be faultless and on par with The Dorchester in London, now it's on par with the Toby Carvery. Meat with the roast looked bought in as each slice was uniform in shape and thickness, potatoes were hollow along with Yorkshire pudding.
Desserts were very nice though! All cold thank goodness so no issues with not being hot.
The restaurant manager apologised profusely and took off the drinks from our bill. The issue I have is in hindsight the issue was the food not the drinks and actually it was appalling. I've since been told the hotel manager will call next week, let's see if I get the call. Sort your inexperienced young staff out Dormy or you won't keep all those awards for long. Such a shame as it was great now it's awful.
