Owner description: After all these years Caernarfon’s immense strength remains undimmed. A brute of a fortress. Caernarfon Castle’s pumped-up appearance is unashamedly muscle-bound and intimidating. Picking a fight with this massive structure would have been a daunting prospect. By throwing his weight around in stone, King Edward I created what is surely one of the most impressive of Wales’s castles. Worthy of World Heritage status no less.

To get the best out of this castle one needs to be quite fit and agile. The museum was outstanding yet quite sobering and humbling. Ramparts, battlements, towers to climb, this castle has it all. Displays and videos keep the interest going. It also looks awesome. We spent a few hours here, it seemed to go very quickly, don't miss if in the area. (There are toilets on site).

outstanding castle in the middle of the Harbour. Castle walled town really quaint. Lovely views across to Anglesey.

Clearly one of the stand out attractions of north Wales. Packed with history and information, including some interesting displays, video screens and even a museum.

With lots of towers to climb for the amazing views (and obviously rather narrow, spiral steps) it's really a good bit of exercise.

Overall a great way to spend a couple of hours.

If you are in the area you have to visit Caernarfon castle. It is steeped in history and is by far one of the, if not the best castle in Wales.

Park in the harbour car park and take a small stroll up the hill to the front of the castle. You will see from the car park just how majestic this castle is.

This is a must see if in North Wales.

We will return

This is a genuine piece of history

You can walk most of the ramparts and imagine the castle which Edward 1 built to hold the welsh.

We also took a walk of the caernarfon walls and the frontage onto the straits is wonderful
