My daughter and I were travelling to Betws-y-Coed from Scotland on route to Snowdonia. We were inevitably held up in the Scottish Highlands by a road traffic incident. As soon as we had signal we phoned Pont-y-Pair Inn to notify them that we would not now be arriving until ~ 2am (due to the road/traffic incident). We were abruptly and rudely informed that if we arrived latter than 23.00 hours - no matter what the reason - we would not be allowed in. They would however continue to charge us as we had not turned up on time !
We had booked through Expedia who did try to help us but to no avail and we had to pay again for alternate accommodation. We had booked accommodation with Expedia over the phone who had not told us there was a limited check in time. The woman who answered the phone was extremely rude - she had agreed we could sleep in the car park and she would let us in at 6am if we were standing on the door step precisely at that time and we could sleep for a few hours prior to check out time at 10am. It would have taken her 5 minutes to open the door and let us in on our arrival.More
