Took mum her for her birthday. Massililiano, our waiter, was first class. Nothing was too much and he made us feel very comfortable. Definitely made this experience special - would be good if all staff were the same standard. Diolch yn fawr.

Stayed two nights in July. As lots of other tripadvisors have mentioned, we had problems with parking (pre-paid but still first come first served), weak aircon in our room (lots of air but not much cooling) and generally a hotel that has had a makeover internally but externally looks neglected.

Balconies with no furniture, dirty partitions with rusting supports and steelwork. It seems the owners have spent as little as possible to convert it to a voco whereas actually, it needs a lot more money spending on it to sort out the exterior and failing M&E.

Whilst some of the staff were attentive, some (maintenance in particular) were not.

The only remnants of 5 star at this property are those left from when it was a Rocco Forte Hotel. It's fallen a long way since and now managed by IHG has more of a Crown Plaza feel to it.

If you are looking for a luxury stay in Wales you'd be better off elsewhere as I'm not sure there's much demand for a 5-star hotel in Cardiff.

Have visited pre and post Covid and yes there are differences but apart from anything else I felt Covid secure within the hotel, they have done everything possible to ensure our safety and cannot be held responsible for any visitors who do not comply. I absolutely love staying at the St Davids Hotel. I come for the view and the ambiance of the Bay Area. The staff are always amazing and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is excellent, eggs freshly cooked to order, etc. I can’t wait to book my next visit, I wish it next week! My ultimate goal is one of the St David’s suites…who knows, one day!
