Armagh Observatory Where science and history go hand and hand. A beautiful Georgian purpose built Observatory which has been a working observatory for over 200 years. Well worth a visit.

Had the privilege of a two hour tour round thus unique centre of academic and scientific brilliance. I was prepared to be out of my depth but felt at ease by the eloquent and patient explanation of the wonders of astronomy. Even though overwhelmed at times by the vastness of both the subject matter and information my interest was rekindled by the interactive demonstration of such as the human orrery. This was equally a literal and metaphorical step into another world. Something of the enormity of the enormity of the Universe can be appreciated from the well tended Astropark where you can set out from our Sun stepping by the planets in our solar system and then through a mathematical portal you can walk through time reaching the very edge of the Universe. Be sure not to miss the aroundNorth aural experience of the stars moving across the night sky.

great opportunity and rare chance to sample real science . proper observatory evenings a real treat but cold in the observatory so wrap up warm, but then it is a dome with a big telescope and huge sliding window panel. historically important a glimpse of an enlightened age.
