Big old hotel, some parts are a bit tired. Room was ok, some broken parts on furniture and shower. Bedside light was not working also light in bathroom. We’re reported but nothing done. Drinks pricey, evening food not great, breakfast was excellent. Staff very nice, parking in hotel not the best, no room. All in all a nice stay for two nights

We originally booked this table from their website advertising the 'blasta' restaurant. This was very misleading as when we arrived 'blasta' has been closed and we were in the normal hotel restaurant.
The decor was dated, worn and in my opinion quite frankly in bad taste.
As for the food - bog standard pub food priced at a gastro pub level.
Chips were frozen not fresh, as was the battered fish. Astonishing, given where the hotel is located that they don't serve fresh seafood.
Macoroni was not freshly made - tasted like it came from a tin.
In fact the only freshly prepared food on the plates was the salad.
Food was presented warm, not hot.
Really disappointed and would not recommend or return.

We stayed in room 309. It was large, roomy and airey. The view of the harbour was good albeit we had to peer over the rooves opposite.

The food was edible although limited choice. We stayed during the pandemic so due to restrictions there was no buffet breakfast. The waitress brought the to the table.

There's a comfy bar.

All in all we had a comfortable stay

i havnt written a review on here for quite sometime now but after a short three night stay in the royal hotel in oban , i thought i should get back into it .
no, it wasnt a bad stay but very enjoyable , a full scottish breakfast is served in the morning and we found it very enjoyable , we had dinner in the bar area a couple of nights and no complaints there either , and all the staff are very efficient and polite very friendly to , so why am i doing a review , well, i have been around a couple of strathmore hotels properties and although all staff and meals etc. are very good , they let themselves down by the condition of the rooms and decor , the room we were in this time needed spruced up and the toilet bowl was at a very strange angle , we were in a superior room, and although comfortable the room was very small and humid , even with the difficult to get at windows open , the main light switch for the ceiling was on the right just inside the door and there was no switch from the bedside area , so we had to get out of bed to put the main light off, and there was only one bedside lamp, the toilet did not have any mains access for a razor or toothbrush , it is the small things that matter. the only down side of our stay was on the last night , my wife injured her leg and had difficulty walking, i managed to get her back to the room and coxed her into going to A & E i phoned down to reception to get them to call an ambulance , they called me back saying that there was a serious accident at fort william and that they would call a taxi to take us to the hospital , only one ambulance in oban ? after being xrayed and checked over, it was thought to be severe bruising to soft tissue in her knee , so it was another taxi back to the hotel , the guy at reception cou;ldnt do enough for us mind you ,he had the lift waiting to take us to our room and helped us from the taxi to the lift . overall we had a great stay except for the last night , which ruined our plans to visit a masonic club we found on a previous visit . STRATHMORE HOTELS !! SPEND SOME OF YOUR MONEY AND SPRUCE YOUR PROPERTIES UP A BIT or you will find them going down hill like some other properties ive seen on my travels.

Room tip: top floor with sea view
